URBAN SETTLEMENT & MULTI-PURPOSE BUILDING Grosio, Sondrio - Italy, 2011 Competition 25.000 sqm Project architect The town of Grosio is characterized by a large gap between the old town and the new extension, located between the church and a historic villa. The proposal is to make the historical center only for pedestrian, extending the walkway to the cemetery, and to define a large central park that reaches the base of the churchyard. The new multipurpose building is located at the edge of the park, interacting with a system of small-scale public squares that generate moments of relax, acting as a filter before entering the main park. The existing retaining wall of the site is restored and inplemented and becomes a strong sign indicating the park, immediately recognizable from the highway, when driving through the valley.
