RESUMPTION OF ANNUAL SALARY INCREMENTS - 2023

On May 12, 2023, a Ministry of Finance Circular ‘MINISTRY OF FINANCE CIRCULAR NO. 2 OF 2023’ was published on the Public Service Union of Belize Facebook page.

The release states in its full, “Under the provisions of Statutory Instrument No. 48 of 2023, Belize Constitution (Public Service Emoluments and Allowances) (Reduction) (Amendment) Regulations copy attached for ease of reference) the payment of annual Salary Increments resumes with effect from the 1st of April 2023.

In that regard, qualifying officers are required to submit duly completed Performance Appraisal Report Forms for the payment of one incre- ment with effect from their respective incremental date.

This is submitted for necessary action.”

It was signed by the Financial Secretary Joseph Waight. This serves as a notice to public officers that the annual salary increment is in effect as of April 1, 2023, qualifying officers would have to submit completed performance appraisal report forms for the payment of one increment from their respective incremental date.

To note this is a year earlier than projected by the people’s government through PlanBelize continues make it happen.

Minister and PSU Executives Tours Public Offices

Last week, Minister Henry Charles Usher, along with staff from his ministry accompanied PSU President Dean Flowers and members of the Belmopan PSU Branch on a tour of several offices in Belmopan.

Minister Usher was warmly greeted by public officers, who listened and asked questions. He spoke with them on the Pension Reform Act, the Civil Asset Recovery and Unexplained Wealth Order Bill, and the reinstallation of Increments.

The joint team of the Ministry of the Public Service and the PSU Belmopan Branch visited the Police Department, Treasury Department, Fire Department, Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries, Audit Department, and Payroll Unit.

Minister Usher and his team from the Ministry of the Public Service, along with the President of the PSU and members of the Unions in the different districts will be visiting other parts of the country.
