Will the acting Prime Minister confirm if Imer Her

THE BELIZE TIMES 16 8 MAR 2020 THINK ABOUT IT BELIZE’S WORST PRIME MINISTER One of those worthless laws of which our Prime Minister has become infamous for, is being passed again. We use the word worthless in the English and creole sense, it is shameless, lowdown, without any principle, deserving of contempt and condemnation, no-good, disgraceful et cetera, etc.

This law, called the “government contract (validation) act” is being made law to cover another one of Dean Barrow sneaky, tricky, and dishonest mismanagement of millions of dollars of taxpayers monies and loans which have already been given to certain special UDP cronies.

One hundred million dollars for upgrading Sarteneja Road. One hundred and thirty million dollars to upgrade the Coastal Highway – given to Imer Hernandez. Thirty Eight Million Dollars for Corozal Road – given to an unknown Belize Roadway construction company. Fourteen Million Dollars for the Caracol Road – given to an unknown A & N Construction Company.

Mein! Oh Mein! This Prime Minister should go to jail. Not a dollar for the thousands of poor people to better their lives. Not a single housing project. No free education for all our young people who deserve a chance in life. No improvement for the hospitals and clinics. No vehicles and forensic equipment for the police to fight crime. Only roads and roundabouts, roads and roundabouts. If this doesn’t look like rampant corruption. We ask you to look again.

And have you heard what the people in the streets are saying about Dean Barrow. Jules Vasquez had already described the UDP not as them stink dah road, but that they are rotting carcass.

On the streets they are saying Dean Barrow never did have a machete to fight corruption. He had a butter knife which he used to butter up his family and political cronies. Dean Barrow business eena jail. THE WORST SCANDAL The worst scandal of scandals infested government is the one where the Prime Minister held a secret meeting with Lord Ashcroft and signed a secret document agreeing to pay the Lord over Five Hundred Million Dollars. All this money was paid from the treasury in one lump sum. Which law firm collected 10% commission fees? The second worst scandal was the squandering waste of theft of over Four Hundred Million Dollars of the Petro-Caribe funds. There was no on time National Assembly approvals, no audit, no accountability and no transparency.

There have been so many scandals involving the Prime Minister who is also the Minister of Finance and who is the sole person approving every dollar that is spent, wasted, squandered and stolen. But the helicopter/BDF scandal that rocked the Belizeans to their bones was the revelation last week that as part of a drug plane issue, a BDF helicopter “crashed” and killed its four BDF occupants. Two of whom were not combatants but unarmed pilots and instructors.

We commend Belizeans who immediately who saw through the tissue of lies and cover up by the new Minister and his C.E.O. on the matter. No one trust the officials anymore. And rightly so, all they do is lie to us and take us for fools.

There are now much more questions than answers and the hurry up white-wash investigation that is taking place will not suffice. Heads have to roll!

Agriculture Ignored in Orange Walk South: Hon. Mai exposes the facts As we know the UDP administration has do everything to put the agriculture sector on its knees. The sector though is resilient and pushes through as much as possible in wait for the people and agriculture friendly new PUP government.

Hon. Jose Mai feels the heartbeat of this sensitive industry in Orange Walk South. Here are a couple of FB Posts where he exposes his heart and facts on the situation that is recurring this year yet the UDP has not addressed the needs.

Post I March 2 Thousands of pounds of onions and potatoes are being harvested today in San Carlos. Reports are that approximately 500,000 pounds of potatoes and as much as 900,000 pounds of onions are being harvested at this time in San Carlos. As the market begin to saturate, losses begin to mount. This was an exceptionally good year for onions and potatoes!! The weather conditions were perfect. There is an excellent crop! Sadly, farmers stand to lose again. Is it only in Belize that farmers lose when there is bad weather but they also lose when there is good weather!! Sad really sad. There is no kind of protection for farmers. There is also No processing and no storage!!

Government illegally spent $1.4 Billion dollars and further spent $100 Million which they cannot account for!! Yet farmers have deplorable road conditions which they have to repair themselves plus no support, no protection.

Farmers in this country are in Total neglect! Total abandonment!! Total despair.

Post II March 4 Prices of locally produced potatoes crumble, as farmers harvest thousands of pounds. Only in Belize do farmers suffer losses when the climate is bad but also when the climate is perfect!!!

This is how we need to fix the potato problem in Belize:

Dear Ambassador Remus Chen of Republic China Taiwan (ROC):

Since the current UDP government is senseless, since they are clueless, incompetent and worthless among many other adjectives, let me ask you and your kind government, the ROC to help our farmers in the following manner: If you do:

Farmers will be able to supply the country with fresh potatoes and French Fries for 9-10 months of the year!!

1. Donate X potato washers with a little greater capacity than the one we had in Central Farm.

2. Donate X potato peelers with greater capacity than the one at Central Farm. 3. Donate X potato fries choppers. 4. Donate X cubic feet of refrigeration rooms to meet storage capacity

The exact quantities required will be determined by the amount of product available, capacity of the machines and number of communities under production.

THE GOVERNMENT OF BELIZE WILL CO-PARTNER IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:

1. Suspend the importation of fresh potatoes.

2. Suspend the importation of French fries in all forms

3. The BMDC will manage storage facility for farmers.

4. The BMDC will market all French Fries produced and processed in Belize!!

In doing so, Belizean farmers will supply fresh potatoes and French fries for 9-10 months of the year!!

My apologies for begging. But you, am sure are aware that the government squandered, misappropriated and probably embezzled hundreds of millions of dollars. We have to resort to begging. There is no more Petro CARIBE money! On another note Ambassador; do not give us rice !! Our farmers are mighty producers of rice and at times we have surplus!!

I reiterate!!! We Noh wah RICE!!

CILTrust International Limited Registered Agent The Wave Radio morning show host, Joe Bradley, had to eat crow as he was ordered publicly apologize for libellous remarks made against the Right Honorable Said Musa’s Daughter.

He had claimed that she had been gifted during the Musa administration with a million dollar scholarship which was patently untrue. Bradley had further claimed that Usher had dropped out whilst nothing was further from the truth. Apology Read Live and Via Radio:

I want to read this statement which I am supposed to read, I want to apologize to the Honorable Said Musa and his daughter regarding a comment I made concerning his daughter getting a million dollar scholarship and failing. This statement was not true. Mr. Musa’s daughter did not receive a million dollar scholarship, any financial assistance from the Government of Belize as my statement implied for her course of studies and training at West Point US Military Academy and she graduated in 2009. I want to apologize for any hurt or embarrassment that I caused to the Hon. Said Musa or his daughter. End of Statement.

Joe Bradley’s ridiculous allegations were exposed in the legal world away from the cushiness of his morning show. Mjr. Adran Ramirez Obituary

Statement by Hon. John Briceño Leader of the Opposition

BELIZE CITY, FRIDAY 28 FEBRUARY 2020—The Hon. John Briceño and the People’s United Party are deeply saddened by the tragic helicopter accident involving four members of the Belize Defence Force in the area of Gales Point Manatee.

We join the rest of the nation in solidarity and extend heartfelt condolences to the families of Major Adrian Ramirez, Major Radford Baizer, Corporal Yassir Mendez and Corporal Reynaldo Choco. These pilots and crew of the BDF U1HI died in service to country and we are forever grateful for their service.

As the nation and the families mourn this tragic loss, we are equally concerned about all the questions surrounding this accident. The press conference held by the Ministry of National Security has left many questions unanswered. There was no information regarding the time taken in reporting the status of the helicopter, the amount of experience by the pilots and crew on night flight operations, the weather conditions for flying helicopters at those hours on that day, the last known radio communication with the pilots, confirmation if the helicopter was certified for visual flight rules and night operations, the standard operating procedures and communication protocols when the BDF airwing is active on a mission and confirmation of the time when and where all four persons were recovered from the scene of the accident.

While it is time to give the families their privacy and respect to mourn their loved ones, it is also necessary for the Ministry of National Security to conduct an independent and thorough investigation and with as much international expertise as may be required. This will serve to assist the families and the nation in understanding the most tragic BDF airwing accident in the history of Belize. While this will not lessen the enormous loss of life, it can help to bring some measure of understanding and closure on this tragedy in the weeks and months ahead.

We call on the Ministry of National Security to also appropriately honor the lives of these brave service men and to keep the nation updated on the progress of the investigation. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of the pilots, the crew and the entire BDF Airwing community and the brave men and women of the BDF. --Ends --

PUP Historic February 23 Demonstration Speaker Soundbites

Orange Walk Central, Party Leader Hon. John Briceño: ““Look at People out here! From north to south, east to west, we have come out over 10,000 strong. And we’re saying with one voice, enough is enough… And it is even better now because the UDP can’t say that the unions brought out the people. We are here to tell them that this is the power of the blue machine, ladies and gentlemen. We want hope. We want a government and will be creating jobs for the Belizean people, a government that will ensure that your children are going to go to school, a government is going to fight crime, a government that will stop all the plane landings, a government that will make sure that whosoever is stealing that they will go, to where?.... Basta ya!” Enough is enough of the U.D.P. And we are saying in one voice: call the elections”

Lake Independence, Hon. Cordel Hyde: “It’s the people who have to make sure that the politicians do what they’re supposed to do. So, I love Miss Elena. I love my ‘bredda’. I rate Dean Flowers and Speed Henry and others. But, I don’t want them to be our friends. I want them to hold our feet to the fire, make sure that we do what we’re supposed to do every single day whilst we are in power. Because this business where a handful of people have everything and the vast majority have nothing that has to stop. …And what we are saying with these numbers here is that people want theirs. We are out here today because we are tired of sitting back and we have decided that the time to stand up is now.”

Caribbean Shores, Hon. Kareem Musa: “You all are making me weak in my knees! You’re so ‘bluetiful’! My brothers and sisters, there is no power greater than the power of the people. You have come out in numbers, fifteen thousand today, strong to send a message to Dean Barrow and his crowd that we are tired, we have had enough and it is time for the People’s United Party.”

Stann Creek West, Hon. Rodwell Ferguson: “We waited for 12 years, and the best never came. So together, we’re going to deliver for you, whenever Dean Barrow calls the elections.”

Orange Walk South, Hon. Jose Mai: “We send 3 messages to Dean Barrow. The first one is the unequivocal condemnation, the discontent of the people of Belize... Message #2 is the unified strength of the People’s United Party, and Message #3, he has to redress the problems that he’s put this country in. We want our money back.”

Cayo South, Hon. Julius Espat: “We want an audit on the Petrocaribe money. We want an audit on the 1.5 billion dollars. We want to audit the contractors that got those works. We want an audit to make sure, it’s your money…. So, listen to me. If they say they have nothing to hide, and ‘dem seh den dah God’s pickney’, then do the audit. We are not afraid. You know why we are not afraid because Belize is for Belizeans and we want to be treated fairly.”

Toledo West, Hon. Oscar Requena: “The UDP, their days are numbered, my friends. So, what do we say? Call the elections now! Call the Elections Now!

Pickstock, Anthony Mahler: “Are you ready to go to the Promised Land? People power is bigger than any power regardless of party in power. The Unions came out the other day sand said they are tired to. Today PUPs come out in the thousands saying we are tired and we want change. I know in Pickstock uno ready for change. Time for Elrington to go. Time for Dean Barrow and the bunch of ….to roll out of government. These have been a rough twelve years. More Belizeans have gotten poor. Many can’t own a piece of land. Many cannot own a home nor go to school. Many people cannot afford to put decent food on the table. This crowd is saying, time for all of you to roll out of pan. The war begins today. All the little battles are skirmishes. Are you ready? I am ready? PUP all the way. Adelante.”

13th February 2020 13th February 2020

The People’s United Party determines that before any constitutional amendment can be considered, there must be a systemic review to ensure that the unlawful and unconstitutional spending of taxpayers’ money can never happen again. The PUP demands the following: 1. The appointment of an Independent Commission of Inquiry chaired by an international Commonwealth jurist to inquire into how this unconstitutional spending could have taken place. 2. A forensic audit of the illegal spending of more than $1.5 billion dollars, with special emphasis on the Petrocaribe spending to be carried out by a reputable international firm of forensic accountants. 3. At the conclusion of the forensic audit into the illegal spending of more than $1.5 billion, follow up action including criminal investigation and prosecution as deemed necessary. We also believe that those who broke the law must be made to face the courts and as such will present the Commissioner of Police and the Director of Public Prosecutions with the evidence as well as the Chief Justice’s judgment so that criminal prosecutions can be instituted. 4. Copies of all contracts issued for over five million dollars that were not brought to the National Assembly for approval. We want to see how much has been spent and what is outstanding. All such contracts and all spending under such contracts are in violation of law. 5. Since there was no Contractor General for approximately two years, we demand copies of all contracts that were issued without the approval of the Contractor General. These contracts must be made null and void.

If we are to carry out the business of the nation honestly and effectively, we need a national effort against this corrupt culture of handouts, political favours, nepotism and dishonesty.

First, we will ensure an Independent Public Accounts Committee. One that is strengthened so that substantive ministers cannot be members of the PAC. As well, all House Committee meetings, including PAC meetings will be open to the public and streamed live. Second, the Integrity Commission must do its job effectively. To do so it should no longer be controlled by the Party in Government. Likewise, we will put in place a mechanism to ensure the financial independence of the Integrity Commission with a budget to be approved by the National Assembly. They need the tools and personnel to get the job done! Third, the recent cases of misappropriation of government funds is a clear indication that we need a strong and independent office of the Auditor General. The next PUP Government will ensure that the Auditor General’s Office has unrestricted access to information and with full powers of investigation, including subpoena powers to ensure that requests for information and documentation are complied with expeditiously.

The Auditor General’s office will be permitted to submit their budget directly to the National Assembly for approval.

Most important, we will ensure that the Auditor General is allowed to present reports directly to the National Assembly and not only to the Prime Minister.

Fourth, the PUP will not only implement UNCAC, but we will also enact Campaign Finance Legislation. In the first 100 days, the new PUP government will direct the Office of the Attorney General to draft Campaign Finance legislation which will be subject to national consultations and review before a final bill is tabled and passed into law. Fifth we must make the National Assembly function as the centerpiece of our government, complete with all requisite checks and balances.

That means that the next PUP Government will ensure a minimum of one House Sitting per month. And Sixth we demand Senator Aldo Salazar to immediately release the findings of the Senate Select Committee on the hustle at the Department of Immigration.

We demand follow up action including criminal investigation and prosecution as deemed necessary.

Our immediate actions will start today as I instruct our legal team to write to the Financial Secretary to request copies of all warrants signed by the Minister of Finance during the current fiscal year.

PART I (ONE TO 22 OF 44 BROKEN PROMISES, UDP STYLE)

10. Broken Promise Develop the Commerce Bight Port to support productive sector growth Outcome Talk, Talk, Talk

Construct a new international airport in North Ambergris Caye

Develop a special financing program through DFC & the National Bank for small businesses & small farmers

Develop & implement a National Transportation Master Plan to address the need for efficient & cost effective movement of people & goods Stimulate economic development as a natural deterrent against incursions through the construction of a road along the western border Develop a modern mixed-use commercial zone at the Lake Independence Boulevard junction – government offices, a national bus terminal, the National Bank, DFC, Police & Fire Stations, a Community Resource Center & retail outlets Shorten the time for accurate & efficient land registration to be no more than 30 days

Construct a new road to Lamanai via Bermudan Landing & Lemonal

Pave the road to Caracol, with two points of origin from Georgeville & Santa Elena

Continue the paving of the North San Pedro Road to the Basil Jones Airstrip

Imaginary

The agriculture sector is reeling. CaneFarmers in the north were promised a measly 2Million last year and have yet to receive the few dollars each would get. Ask the Belizean beside you if they know what this is about.

Imaginary, Not even artificial

There is an overpriced Master Plan which cries of UDP over bloated contracts. This is the same Lake-I Boulevard that broke up like a brownie.

Depends who you are of course The hot-bed of corruption is as corrupt as ever—this according to the present Minister Patt. The Past NR Ministers keep on visiting making sure that it remains sizzling vis-à-vis Vega, Hulse, Williams, Barnett, etc. Maybe Planes land there

Nobody knew at this point that they would be saddled a loan of 180 million dollars sans Interest. Two-points of origin and ending up in Nowhere?? Contracts not approved by a contractor general nor house. And Contracts to Imer? This has been sly all along. Another of Heredia’s empty promises

11. Improve the quality of public bus transportation by giving incentives for better quality, energy efficient buses; review the bus route system to meet peak & non-peak demand nationwide; & enforce quality in public transport The 200 or so buses used by the PUP in their immense demonstration are still recycled buses after 12 years of inaction on the transportation front. Substandard highway built by ONE crony matched by substandard buses for Belizeans. Only foreigners can ride in new AC buses across the jewel. 12. Construct a new Belize City Civic Center as a premier sports & entertainment facility to enhance the nationwide network of sport centers currently being developed Two families lost their loved ones after the overpriced Civic was deemed complete and open to the hosting of events. They fell from the unsafe scaffolding. ONLY the UDP has access to this for their conventions. 13. Construct 35 new schools countrywide from pre-school to High School Ground breaking was done by former DPM during his drive to become leader of the UDP. Well we know where that got him 14. Develop an institute for Science & Technology A building is planned in the dusk of the UDP. These might be like the Ministry of Health’s empty ‘clinic.’ 15. Develop an institute for Enterprise & Innovation Incompetence reigned. There was no enterprise and much less innovation is this ghastly UDP. 16. Expand internet penetration to 50% countrywide Whatever does this mean? One of every two persons will have easy access to the Internet? Not even close. The Internet is still prohibitive as is UDPs usual ways of incompetence. 17. Construct three new hospitals: Western Regional, San Pedro & Punta Gorda Pablo was busy acquiring medicines for hospitals that routinely lacked the basics. So New Hospitals would be a UDP sick joke. 18. Implement solid waste systems in the Northern & Southern Corridors Just maybe they meant the corridors of some of the mansions built by the INSANELY rich UDP. Poor UDPs got poorer. PUPs hid their colors. 19. Expand electricity to remote rural areas using solar energy technology Is this like the electric cars promised by the PM at his Independence Day lecture? 20. Construct a forward operating base at the Sarstoon A building that faked at being an FoB was build but is Inadequate, Unsafe; Soldier lost an eye; The UDP and Saldivar FAILED to build it right ON Sarstoon Island. 21. Procure two helicopters to enhance the work of our security forces & emergency personnel Procure probably meant that the UDP has to routinely rent helicopters. This even as Belize has a couple helicopters always grounded since UDP’s incompetence is so virulent and contagious. 22. Invest $70 million in national security initiatives Via Dermen? When will this initiate? Get to the Next Edition of the Belize Times to see the last of the UDP broken promises of November 2015.
