BASSXL Biwaa www.biwaa.com Seven 4 | Price: $22.99 TIP: I fish this bait similar to a lipless crankbait. Because it sinks pretty quickly, I can let that bait sink down to the depth I want, put my rod tip down, and really just crank it in. But I’ll also give it some action as I’m reeling. Every once in a while I’ll just twitch it, keep reeling, give it a couple of twitches. That way I’m getting a little erratic motion that can trigger strikes.
Liquid Mayhem www.liquidmayhem.ca Garlic Crawfish Scent | Price: $5.69 TIP: I think scent is pretty important. If the fish are biting well you will catch yourself not using it as much maybe. But if you make yourself use it all the time you will catch more fish. Although some anglers apply scent to crankbaits, I feel the best lures for scenting are soft plastics, especially those with hollow bodies and ribs. I like to squeeze it inside tube baits so they provide a burst of natural flavor when a bass bites. They tend to hold on longer, giving you more opportunity to set the hook.
Throwback Lures www.throwbacklures.com Mane Minnow | Price: $9.99

TIP:
Re-tie Often – Many times even a small nick in your line can cause a fish to break you off. This can happen from rubbing against brush, stumps or any other structure. Re-tie your knots on a regular basis and run your hand up the line to feel for any small abrasions.

BETTER FISHING TIMES USING THE SUN/MOON TO CATCH MORE FISH What are Astro tables and how does it work? Astro Tables are far more effective than “moon tables” because they take into account critical solar energies as well as lunar. PrimeTime data is based on solar/lunar research at a leading college of astrophysics and our own research pond/wildlife area. Annual data is supplied by the U.S. Naval Observatory. All lunar times are adjusted to the center of your time zone and for Daylight Saving Time. LUNAR PERIODS

Tackle Shop Bob
TACKLE SHOP BOB On fishing, work, relationships and more...
Q: The lakes in my area are highly pressured. What lights do you suggest for night fishing? - Bob, Joplin, MO A: Unless you work the nightshift, for many of us, nightfishing is the only time to go during the week. I mean, who else is gonna run ol Bob’s Tackle Shop during the day. Bob Jr.’s too busy chatsnapping and chasing Pokemon to even know what’s going on… So for those of us who have no choice but to fish after sun-down, lighting is almost as important as what’s on the end of our line. There are the standard tactical lights and headlamps you can use to gain greater visibility, but why not attract the bass while you’re doing it. I’d suggest going for a submersible light that you can put in the water so you not only get more visibility, but also increases your chances of getting a bite. Just keep in mind that it isn’t legal in all states. Q: Hey, I was wondering what is your favorite thing to throw in the hot months in very stained water? - Blake, Greenbrier, AR A: If you want to catch bass in stained water, it doesn’t matter if the water is hot or cold, you need to make sure you’re fishing as tight to cover as possible. Bass in stained water prefer to hang around objects like rocks, logs, and docks; and for the most part, they’re
not very aggressive, so hang in there and keep casting for a solid hookset. As for what you should throw, my personal preference is a crankbait with good wobbling action. Rattletraps work well because they provide a nice, tight wobble that will attract bass with their action and the noise they produce. Q: If you are fishing from shore on a lake or pond what would be your go-to bait? - Isaiah, New River, AZ A: That’s a tough question to answer because there are so many more important factors to take into consideration when you’re choosing what bait to throw, water clarity, temperature, local baitfish, etc. But one thing to consider is downsizing your baits. Generally, when you fish a smaller body of water like a pond, the bait fish tend to be smaller, so you want to try and mimic they as much as possible to “match-the-hatch” as our friends as Livetarget do so well. If you want a specific bait suggestion, I’d go with a smaller profile Livetarget Baitball. Bear in mind that you’ve gotta do your own research and find something that matches what the fish in your water are chasing. Got a question and need Bobby’s advice? Send him an email at: bobby@BigBassMonthly.com If he’s got good advice he’ll give it to you and hook you up with $30 worth of fishing tackle.
