Welcome to Italian Cheese Week in Glasgow!
The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) is incredibly excited to be partnering with Eusebi Deli in Glasgow as a part of this international campaign. The ITA is the governmental agency that supports the business development of Italian companies abroad and promotes foreign investment in Italy.
The Italian Cheese Promotion is an international campaign, currently running in France, Japan, and about to launch in the USA. The UK has been a key part of our promotion where we’ve showcased our cheeses in Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Cumbria, and Edinburgh.
GIOVANNI SACCHI, DIRECTOR OF THE ITALIAN TRADE AGENCY IN LONDON, SAYS:“We’re absolutely delighted to be showcasing some fantastic Italian cheeses at Eusebi’s Deli. For this promotion we’ve worked with Assolatte, the premier association of Italian Cheesemongers. We’ll be displaying some of the finest PDO cheeses and many others as well, ones that you won’t always find in UK supermarkets. The aim is to get people familiar with a wider range of Italian cheeses, some of which may be new to the British consumer.”
We’re thrilled to be showcasing these cheeses in Glasgow as a part of our international campaign. We’ve recently participated in the Stafford Cheese fair too, where people literally went crazy for Taleggio and Asiago, as well as the very well-known Grana Padano and Parmigiano Reggiano.”
Glasgow has been selected to be a part of the international cheese promotion, run by the Italian Trade Agency. The Italian Trade Agency in London is working in collaboration with Eusebi’s Deli to bring the best of Italian cheese to Glasgow!
The promotion runs from the 6–12 November, where customers can pop into Eusebi’s to sample a huge array of Italian cheeses, as well as pick up some free recipes too. The cheeses will be available for purchase as well, should any foodies like to take some home and channel their inner Italian chefs.

TO CHEESE
MASCARPONE
Castello di Tassarolo Gavi ‘No Sulphites’ 2022
Rounded and pure fresh fruit flavours with an intense aroma of white flowers, crushed orchard fruits and meadow sweetness. Without the addition of sulphur at any point during the winemaking and bottling process this has a flavour profile set to one side from less natural winemaking.
MOZZARELLA DI BUFALA PDO
Cavalchina Bardolino Chiaretto 2022
A suave, elegant pink with that characteristic snap of herbiness on the finish and bags of character.
PARMIGIANO REGGIANO PDO
Medici Ermete Lambrusco Concerto 2022
This is real Lambrusco and old ideas about this wine must be thrown out with Concerto. It is the traditional red wine of Bologna and Modena, and has now returned to its old style, undergoing a transformation to what it should be. It is dry, red and with a complete sparkle; a full, juicy mouth filling wine that is a brilliant accompaniment to rich cuisine. Nose of red berries. Palate is fresh, dry and lively, sharp red fruits (cherry, strawberry, cranberry) with hints of smokiness.
GORGONZOLA PDO
Cascina Castlet Barbera d’Asti ‘Vespa’ 2021
Deep and brilliant ruby colour that underscores the wine's freshness and vinosity. Intense, persistent bouquet that is pleasantly fruity with undertones of freshly picked flowers and fruits. Dry, harmonious, sapid and balanced flavour.
CASSATA RICOTTA
Cascina Castlet Moscato d’Asti 2022
Best enjoyed in its youthful exuberance this is exemplary Moscato d’Asti. Lightly foaming bubbles, aromatic, fruity and floral bouquet balanced by soft acidity.
The world of DOP and PDO cheeses and why they’re so important in supporting Italian producers.
What does DOP and PDO mean?
DOP stands for "Denominazione di Origine Protetta," and in English this translates to “Protected Designation of Origin." PDO for short. These labels are like a stamp of authenticity and quality for Italian products, especially cheeses. They ensure that the cheese is made in a specific region using traditional methods, high-quality ingredients, and stringent quality controls.
WHY IT MATTERS
THE FLAVOUR OF TRADITION
Supporting PDO cheeses means you're supporting local Italian communities and preserving centuries-old traditions. These labels not only guarantee the cheese's origin but also celebrate the unique flavours and techniques of each region. It's a way of safeguarding cultural heritage.
When you choose PDO cheeses, you're choosing cheese that tells a story. It's a slice of history, a taste of tradition, and a connection to the passionate producers who pour their hearts into every wheel. It's the real taste of Italy.
Let's celebrate the TRUE TASTE of Italy together
Supporting PDO cheeses isn't just about savouring exceptional flavours; it's about preserving a way of life. So, as you indulge in these cheeses during Italian Cheese Week, remember that you're also preserving a piece of Italy's culinary heritage. Cheers to authentic, extraordinary taste!
