Letter from DIRECTOR OF PR

Lucy Lopez It has been three years since I received my bid into Delta Gamma. I remember being a freshman holding my bid, at the verge of tears because the chapter I had fallen in love with had fallen in love with me too. Last quarter I studied abroad in London and missed out on several events like Bid Day (or sorority Christmas if you will), Presents, initiation, and sisterhoods. I was constantly checking on several social media platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter to see what my sorority was doing even though I was hundreds of miles away. Coming back after being away for 6 months, I was terrified that everyone had forgotten about me and I would just be the “girl who studied abroad. Without a doubt I was proven wrong. Delta Gamma accepted me with big arms. New members would come up to me and kindly introduce themselves. Other sisters invited me to coffee and wanted to hear my travel stories. Seeing everyone and being greeted with warm hugs and presents at the first meeting of the quarter really brought me back to when I received my bid into the sisterhood. I felt wanted, accepted, and loved just like I felt on Bid Day when I ran to my new home three years ago. Delta Gamma has surrounded me with a group of young women who are driven, intelligent, free-spirited, and generous. I am so thankful to be in a chapter where women support other women and have found lifelong friendships that will last a lifetime.
