LifeScout / Organ Transportation UAV The LifeScout is an unpiloted organ transportation aircraft that uses military UAV technology adapted to a civilian application. The aim of this project was to show that this technology can be used in order to reduce costs and time spent in organ transportation by increasing flexibility and reducing the number and types of vehicles involved.
1
1. The LifeScout has carbon fibre and aluminium honeycomb body over an aluminium monocoque chassis 2. The tilt-rotor configuration is a relatively unknown rotor configuration and it was chosen mostly for health and safety issues over a traditional helicopter rotor configuration 3. The boot where the organ box is carried is made in self-skinning high density polyurethane foam with and anti-bacterial coating. It is highly insulating and structurally strong. 4. The LifeScout carries a day and night camera that allows the control base to overview the trip through constant video streaming and the aircraft can also be remotely controlled in case of emergency.

LifeScout / Research LifeScout / Research THE MAJORITY OF VEHICLES USED FOR ORGAN TRANSPORTATION ARE ALSO USED FOR PATIENT AND MEDICAL STAFF TRANSPORTATION. THESE MULTI-PURPOSE VEHICLES LACK INTEGRATED POWER-GENERATORS AND INSULATED COMPARTMENTS NEEDED FOR ORGAN TRANSPORTATION
ORGAN TRANSPORTATION LAND AMBULANCES CAN USE EMERGENCY BLUE-LIGHT BUT TRAFFIC IS STILL A MAJOR PROBLEM ASWELL AS ROAD QUALITY INCREASING TRANSPORT TIMES

THE USE OF HELICOPTERS FOR MEDIUM TO LONG DISTANCES IS INFLUENCED BY AIRPORT WORKING HOURS AND INVOLVES VERY HIGH COSTS
LONG SURGERY TIME TOGETHER WITH LONG TRIPS CAN PUT ALOT OF PRESSURE ON AMBULANCE DRIVERS AND ANY TRIP LASTING MORE THAN 3 HOURS IS ALWAYS DONE BY HELICOPTER OR AIRPLANE
LifeScout / Research
Ducted rotors are safer in a smaller aircraft where a person needs to approach the aircraft quickly after landing
Day and night gimbal camera allows the monitoring of ight and a land based pilot can take over the control of the aircraft at any time
Trek Aerospace Dragon y - Tilt-rotor personal aerial transport. In development.
Traditional helicopter rotary engine powered rotor blades
Saab Skeldar - Geographical mapping, surveilance, aerial photography.
External payload bays allow for the transportation of 50 kg or more of payload
very small size reduces fuel consumption while still allowing for high cruise speeds and reasonable range Northrop Grumman MQ8 - Combat, surveilance, re ghting.
