This creates two different rooms, the kitchen and the living-room. All these space is surrounded by a big terrace. Other rooms are located at the superior floor and they are equally situated around the staircase. In order to create a higher differentiation among the different spaces, some wardrobes are placed as an intermediated space. 6.8

ARCHITECTS is a global operating architecture and urbanism practice with an progressive ideal engaged in solving global issues. The founding member are Luis Betancor, Harriet Camacho, Estefanía Guerra y Marisol Gomez , all studied architecture in the Polytechnic of Madrid, in expection of Estafanía who studied in munich. In our team we have different specialists, construction specialist, architect and planner specialist and designing and digital media specialist, so we embrace all aspects, yet we also work with companies specialized obtaining the product we really want, Our process of designing the project consists firstly analyzing the area where it is located looking for problems and also listen to citizens opinion, then we create a master plan. Secondly we work in groups, in a smaller scale, so we get two projects two different points of view, discussing all aspects, then we switch them so we develop them, and finally we get the main project, developing it till the last detail.
06
OUR
MISSION
Our principal mission is to solve actual problems in the city, working in different scales, buildings have an impact in the city when we build them, so we need to analyze problems from a bigger scale, the surroundings. We believe small projects have great impact. However this isn’t the only objective, we also take on the project other aims, we believe technology is an import issue nowadays that is developing in great velocity, so we work with other companies specialize in the issue we are working on, to get the best results. Together design, architecture and technology we get great results. Also renewable energy is present in our design and projects. Again we try to work with companies specialized in the issue, we try to not only use sustainable technology, but also we try to incorporate them in the design of the project
07
WORKING METHODS Our team have never worked together before, so it was difficult to know if everybody would help with all the work and the do their parts. So the easiest way was to do a contract where it’s written the part of each member of the group. Because of the work we had to do, the roles have been changing all the time depending on the technical skills of each member of the group, but in general, we are proud to say that we have done a good job and a good time together.
„Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.“

THE INVESTOR new vision for Plaza España
As a result of the success that ARCO (Feria de Arte Contemporáneo) has had since 1982, the Menil and Guggenheim Foundation, in cooperation with Madrid´s Ifema Institution (Institución Ferial de Madrid), have decided to place a centre of art and social innovation and interaction right at Madrid’s heart. In the search of a place to connect the technological scenarios of Europe and America, Madrid appears to be the perfect location.
The Silicon Valley Association encourages adopting a strategic approach, unique among other technological institutions that would distinguish the Plaza Centre and bring it into play on the international technological landscape. This would reaffirm the mission and priorities of the Plaza Centre as a platform for exchanges between society and technological creation, in pursuit of a vision outlined by different Institutions, both linked to America and Europe. A popular venue designed for the entire population, the Plaza Centre will closely follow the world of technology and will establish links with a number of worldwide enterprises, particularly to those with an international projection willing to share and contribute to common research and progress. The aim of this initiative is to create a forerunner for an International Technology Institution, which supports young and committed entrepreneurs where to show the worldwide technology advancement.

It has to be a building designed to host multidisciplinary programs. Every field of technology has to be present, allowing entrepreneurs to show their most recent work.

THE PROJECT
16
THE U - TURN CENTRE
This building is conceived to host a complex program of activities; however, the schema to run it, is very simple. Simplicity of basic rules and flexibility are key to complexity. The U-Turn Centre allows young entrepreneurs to show their most recent work in the fields of technology. Each entrepreneur will have access to a private place where to work on his own and where to receive visitors and possible investors. Every year, there will be a public competition between candidates to select those who deserve and are eligible for the grant. The candidates selected will be responsible for the maintenance of their workspace. Electricity, air conditioning, heating, cleaning service and doorman services expenses, among others, will be covered by the Centre. These expenses will be partially paid by the benefits of the public parking underneath and the lease of the retail space located at the ground floor. The rest of the costs, as scholarships aimed at the program members and materials and equipment costs will be paid by the Silicon Valley Association for Innovation, Development and Investigation and other affiliated companies. The Ifema Institution will be responsible for the organization of events and presentations and Madrid’s Polytechnic University will supervise the performance of the Centre. Once completed every year grants, this process will be repeated.

BAR - RESTAURANT
We propose a place for restaurants and bars that gives life to Plaza España the whole day. It gives a lot of joy to the plaza.

The building could also have temporal expositions. It’s a building in a plaza that everybody knows, so putting there an exposition would make it successful.

PLAN
CINEMA
It would be a great time for people of all ages to make a cinema in the middle of the plaza. This would be very practical during the summer season in Madrid.
ROOF TERRACE
The roof is passable, so people can walk above it and have differents points of view of this special and iconic place of the centre of the city.
