MOMENT OF LIGHT Light is just like time, when time changes, light moves. While people notice the movement of light, it tells people the change of time. As the site is located between old district and future new district, by using the light changes, this is to notify the change of the society and to take their time. The street furniture bridges the old district and the new district. The old district represents the past and also sunset, beautiful but passing by. The new district represents the future and also sunrise, hopeful and energetic. Light will be capture to focus the old district at sunset time and focus the new district at sunrise time.

Timeline Time is the same
The street furniture form is originated from a timeline. Time will never repeat, a moment of a day does not repeat as a moment of another day. Clockwise of time is meaning moment never Rotate in the return and makes the timeline Clockwise rolling from one direction to another direction without going back. The “timeline” changes in height represent the up and down of the era. BUT Date is different

ECO-Idea
ECO-material
Hong Kong Kwun Tong Promenade is located next to the Kwun Tong Ferry Pier, the predecessor of the Kwun Tong Public Cargo Working Area where was the loading and unloading area of compressed recycled paper. Been converted in 2009 has become the promenade.
Architecture is not only creation of technology, but also is responsibility to society. Because of placing in the area of compressed recycled paper, using materials - carton gives a new life to the site.
The eco-idea is came from the collective memory of piles of the recycled paper. “Carton” is as a design material in resulting to harmonize the work and the surrounding. The idea representing the sense of “endless cycle”.

WEAVING The design is composed of 2D and 3D elements representing different forces. It can be seen that 4 3D planes are respond to the main forces with different edge angles so that the site forces can intersects together in this design.
6
Forces were bounced off. No force was intersection.
No interaction happen inside the site.
7
Forces not only intersect, but also the weaving concept allows interactions between people.
FORM MAKING There are a series of study models using to study the openings that are designed into varied size representing weaving concept, and study how the planes respond to main forces that the edges are designed in facing to. 8
SITE PLAN The paths are the extensions of planes and connections of forces as well. The composition of paths creates different activities which are able for family, group of people and performance.
SECTION The design is the continuity of 2D and 3D elements and has level differences as well. These differences bring horizontal activities to vertical.

CONFUCIANISM MUSEUM Confucianism is a religion that is very straight forwards as people can train theirselves to be ‘Gentleman’, and help improve the society. However, the reality is not as simple as what Confucianism believes. In the society, people face different situation and different forces which causes people are up and down in their lifelong.

THEME GENERATION One person have different characters. Just like an actor, you play different roles in different times and situations. For example, you may be a king and you also are a husband at the same time. Also, not only 5 types relationships which Confucianism measures would be the main characters, but also you and me also be one of them.

CARGOTECTURE Problem
Different kinds of housing problems arose from increasing numbers of residents who lived in the Ap Liu Street. Buildings, which are less than ten stories, are built over four decades. Many buildings are sectioned into cage homes or sub-divided units where attract low-income people. These places are crowded so that the living environment is very bad. In addition, in order to increase areas, unauthorised building works are built that damage the building structure. For example, in 2010, one 55-year-lod building on Ma Tau Wai Road was collapsed because of structural problems resulting in many casualties.
Solution In order to solve the housing problem in Ap Liu Street, Cargotecture is the solution. Hong Kong has played a major entrepot role for global trade for decades. However, many statistics indicate that Hong Kong’s trade growth lags substantially behind that of Mainland China. It is possible that the role of Hong Kong as an entrepot to the Mainland will diminish over time. Therefore, many recycled cargo containers can be used to reconstruct the community with distinctive features.

Flexible Containers, supporting with a structural frame, can be emplaced in different levels of a tenement house to be demolished. Different module combinations create various interesting faรงade designs. Cargotecture can revitalize the old tenements, improve the living environment and inject impetus to the shabby street.
Timeless Making use of containers as a basic constructing unit, it is adaptable to different building structures. This convenient and timely way to assemble containers into habitable buildings can handle the problems of reconstructing old tenements with ease. With its ever-changing module combination, the charms of cargotecture in the foreseeable future will never fade.
