SERLACHIUS MUSEUM GÖSTA
Joenniementie 47, Mänttä
Art Museum Gösta offers you a chance to enjoy interesting contemporary art, classics from the Golden Age of Finnish art and some of the masterpieces of old European art. Restaurant Gösta, the museum gift shop, the sculpture park and Taavetinsaari Island will add the finishing touch to your visit. If you want, you can borrow a bicycle or a rowing boat from the museum. Time of Stone (until 14 April) Harry Kivijärvi was among the most significant Finnish sculptors of his generation. The exhibition presents his pieces in interaction with the works of six Finnish contemporary sculptors. Olli and Bucklan – The Life and Art of the Ehrströms (26 January 2019–12 January 2020) The large exhibition showcases the works of the talented artist couple. The exhibition at Art Museum Gösta focuses particularly on the paintings and drawings of Olga GummerusEhrström. Distant Cool Shadow – A Small Exhibition of Colour (23 February–8 September) The exhibition brings forth colour-related sensations and experiences. How do we see colour and how does colour affect us? Classic Works of Fine Art at the Manor (from 6 April onwards) The new collection hang showcases works owned by the Gösta Serlachius Fine Arts Foundation, ranging from classics of the Golden Age of Finnish Art and old European art to newer treasures. The old traditional manor feel is present in the stylish hang.
MAA (18 May–29 September) The American artist Matthew Day Jackson mixes materials that seem completely mismatched in his sculptures and, at the same time, blends familiar and totally unfamiliar worlds. You can experience the sculptures through the roleplaying game created for the exhibition. In Our Time (21 September 2019–8 March 2020) The Irish artist Gerard Byrne depicts the routines of a fictional commercial radio station in his video art work. At the same time, he raises questions about collective memory and communality. The Quest for Happiness – Italian Art Now (26 October 2019–29 March 2020) The exhibition brings to Finland the works of 14 contemporary Italian artists, for whom creativity and energy act as opposing forces to the country’s economic and political crisis.

Olli and Bucklan – The Life and Art of the Ehrströms (26 January 2019–12 January 2020) The large exhibition showcases the works of the talented artist couple. The exhibition at Museum Gustaf showcases Eric’s design works and the couple’s shared projects. Once upon a Time, in This Place (23 February 2019–16 February 2020) The photographs and video installation by Johanna Lecklin address a painful period of Finnish history, the civil war, through modern times, and assess the potential effects and traces of the events of 1918. Paper Devil The life and business of the Finnish paper industry pioneer G.A. Serlachius are revealed in this dramatised exhibition where the stories lead the spectator. Apothecary’s Trade House A functional exhibition planned especially for children and young people in which you can try out the different tasks of an old trade house.
