Vote Dave Trigger Over the last few months Ivybridge Labour has delivered a leaflet to nearly every house in Ivybridge asking people what they want to see improved in your town. Thank you to everyone who has sent in a reply or stopped the team on the streets to talk to us about your views. You have said that: There is still too much dog mess on pavements You don’t like the steep Council Tax rises On some streets there are major problems with parking You want to feel safer and have concerns about crime You also said you wanted to see your local Councillor more. Dave Trigger says: “I’m not a career politician. I’m just a local man who wants to represent his community. Let’s work together to solve these issues. Please vote for me on 4 June to make Ivybridge better.”

Labour’s promise to introduce free swimming for the over 60s is now being rolled out across the country – including in Ivybridge. Swimming is the country’s most popular sporting activity and Labour’s free swimming initiative will help get two million people more active and healthy.

You will soon be able to swim for free if you are over 60 – This didn’t happen by accident. This happened because of a Labour Government

Dave Trigger says: “I know how important our swimming pool is to this town and this Labour achievement will be welcomed by local people. This is just another thing Labour’s done to help people in Ivybridge. Let me know what you think about this.”

Did you know that the National Minimum Wage is increasing to £5.80? The Government is increasing the pay level for nearly one million people from October. This comes in the same week an amendment in Parliament by Conservative MPs seeks to allow employers to pay LESS than the minimum wage condemning workers to low pay.

Ivybridge Labour uses Twitter, YouTube and Facebook to talk with voters, find out about problems and let people know what we are going to do about the issues that affect you. Dave says: “I’m going to be honest it took me a while to get to grips with using the internet for politics, but it is really working. What I like most is that it is all about conversation and actually speaking to people.”

Ivybridge Labour has welcomed extra assistance from the Government to give empty shops a new use. Empty shops give the impression of a rundown community. New help from the Government encourages empty shops to be turned into community facilities, one-stop shops for Council services and even art galleries for local artists. Labour is calling on Devon County Council to access extra funding to help stop Ivybridge’s empty shops remaining unused. “It is time to think again about how we use these empty shops” said Luke Pollard.
