Welcome Kania a regular housewife to an amazing cook, and a mom to two little firecrackers who constantly keeps me on my toes. I’m so glad you’re here! It’s been a crazy wonderful journey for me, my team and especially my little family for the past five years of running this amazingly growing company. When I first started in early 2013, I was tired of my mundane life, and desperately needed a big change. What began as a simple creative output like making throw pillows from our dining room table has grown into a purpose that truly sets my heart on fire. Today we have designed, produced and distributed our handmade goods to countless homes and families throughout Indonesia and other parts of the world. These handmade goods are well-thought and carefully done by women makers who are daughters, wives, sisters, mothers supporting a family. My desire to create has grown bigger than myself that I always ensure we must end up with a collection of products that we will not only use ourselves but are incredibly proud of. I believe in my heart that true happiness is found in the littlest things in life. Thank you for your continuous support and friendship. It means the world to us! This is where the fun begins. We always We always

start every product journey with a mindful research aiming to create something that we personally need which will contribute good values to our life. When the concept is born, we combine functionality and aesthetics through pattern making and surface design. All great designs require a prototype. This is a crucial step where we get to explore the whole product experience from measurement and sizing to how we’re actually using it to simplify our life. We want it to be ideal and compatible for the market, therefore this process itself can take up to 6 months. 80% of our production is made with our own bare hands. Length of production varies for each product type, using processes like water-based digital and screen printing. With a focus on the little details, we always ensure that all items are thoroughly checked with high standards of quality control before received by our customers and clients. Every product tells a different story, therefore we only produce in small batches in the hope to always keep its value. Since it’s handmade with love, minor imperfection is inevitable. All goods are well-thought, and that’s why what you buy has its own meaning and uniq.

OUR FUN-FILLED WEEKEND AT BRIGHTSPOT MARKET It has been a week since Brightspot Market, but to us the excitement still lingers like it was only yesterday. It is merely our second year joining this event but we’re really overwhelmed with the positive energy and enthusiasm coming from all of you our lovely customers. During the four days we were there, it was like a rollercoaster ride. Fun, thrilling, and somewhat unpredictable. Even so, we know in the end it was going to be a fulfilling journey. Different from last year’s venue, this year Brightspot was held in Pacific Place Mall, Central Jakarta. Though last year’s traffic was constantly packed during the four days, we certainly think it’s worth mentioning that the venue change brought a positive difference to this year’s traffic flow. In addition to the fact that it’s located in Central Jakarta, the surrounding SCBD office area also brought easy access to the venue for more visitors. At first we thought Saturday and Sunday would be more crowded, but it turns out Friday’s traffic was our winner. Even during office hours, we couldn’t stop to catch a breath! Being an online-based store, pop-up markets like this always gets us excited as we get to meet you in person. And during this year’s fair, it was wonderful to see how the customers are also very enthusiastic to meet us and curate our products in person. Not only does this warm our hearts, it also shows us a glimpse of how our label is perceived by our customers as a lifestyle brand. And it truly gives us a profound personal satisfaction. Brightspot itself is a pioneer in pop-up markets and has gained a good reputation after years of their existence. That’s why this year, we’re using the opportunity to restock our signature products, as well as introducing some new product variants to the market. Our signature sling bags sell like hotcakes and are sold out very very quickly. We have to bring fresh stock every single day and even so, plenty still ask for it up until the last day. The tote bags (Everyday Needs,

Daily Essentials and Self Love) and the newly-launched city sling are also a big hit and another one that’s really grabbed attention was the To Wear line. Another thing that we’re grateful for is all your feedbacks and inputs because it shows us that you care for our improvement and took the time to tell us in person how we can be better. In whatever form the inputs may be: a constructive criticism, a new product suggestion, a request for more stock or simply an Instagram Story documenting your time at our booth, do know that we welcome them with a happy heart. We gladly take them all into consideration and will make improvements to the brand and also the team. Our goal is to be more alert, to support and remind each other and bring forth more heartfelt products that hopefully you will love. After the event is over, we left feeling extremely exhausted. But, nevertheless very much cherished, blessed and immensely fulfilled. It was great joy to see old faces and meet new faces along the way. We’d also like to thank every single one of our friends who supported us in every way, we truly appreciate everything you’ve done. And as an act of gratitude, we’re going to donate a small part of our sales during Brightspot to those in Palu and for the victims and families of JT 610.

As we’ve been pretty hectic with life and all the exciting things that are going on with Chic & Darling, we realized we haven’t had the chance to share with you our Brightspot Market experience. This year, we have a little bit of something old and a little bit (or plenty) of something new. But above it all, one thing stays the same. We had a wonderful-wonderful time meeting you in person. One thing that really stood out to us this year was the venue choice. Last year, it was done at one of the prominent shopping malls in Jakarta. This year the venue is an interesting mix.

It is part mall, part office building, but one thing for sure, it was entirely and completely new. District 8 was meant as a mall, located in the heart of SCBD and Senopati area. Brightspot was the first one to make use of this multiple-story building and we personally think they did a very good job. Walking into Brightspot Market felt like entering a mall, filled with local brands throughout. Not to mention, the brands participating really gave an effort to create beautiful looking booths which makes the experience so much more fun.

A MEANINGFUL DAY FILLED WITH LIFE, DREAMS, BLESSINGS

“Everything is possible when you have the right people there to support you”

After almost a year, Life, Dreams, Blessings The Gratitude Journal is finally born. To finally witness the launch of this journal truly feels like a dream. Stemming from Kania and Andra Alodita’s very own personal experience, what was once just an idea is now a tangible item we proudly present to you. We knew the launching event for a product that is so special would have to be held at a special place too. After months of scouting locations, our choice finally fell on Aksara Event Space. From the first time we laid eyes on this venue, we can already see how the event will pan out in this space. Located in the hip district of Kemang, the venue was strategically located to accommodate visitors from all over Jakarta. Due to the speed table pedestrian crossing project happening in the Kemang area, unfortunately the road to Aksara was blocked a few days leading to the event, which caused major traffic. But , on the day of the event the road was cleared and vehicles can come and park at the space. At around 9 am, guests have started coming to the venue. Immediately after coming, they were welcomed by a thoughtful goodie bag, well provided by our friends Lemonilo, By Lizzie Parra and Beauty Barn. Stepping into the fully transformed space, guests took their seats before the designated backdrop and eased themselves over coffee, tea and nibbles provided by Ruang Seduh. An hour later, the sharing discussion starts. Ucita Pohan moderated the talk show with effortless fluency. Her witty jokes immediately drew laughter from the audience yet her firm and meaningful insights really brought the discussion even deeper. Andra Alodita along with Kania shared their experience on mental health conditions, pointing specifically on normalizing conversations on mental health. Also sharing his insights on media representation on mental health and happiness was David from Greatmind. He pointed out that media is also responsible for shaping the perception of mental health and building the right perception is not easy but should be a collective effort. Chic & Darling believes in spreading this good message and with help from media partners and friends such as Greatmind, Living Loving and Manual, hopefully this goal is a step nearer.
