What a fabulous opportunity! What a fun project!
We were asked to work on an incredible apartment in one of New York City’s iconic new towers. Our design, obviously, had to “hold its own” with the magnificent view. Wow, think about competing with Mother Nature as well as with one of the world’s most renowned skylines!
To pull in the natural blues, greens and browns of the landscape in Central Park, a painting by Yvonne Thomas, one of the 20th Century’s premier Abstract Expressionist artists, was selected to hang in the Dining Room.
Neutral fabrics and leathers were used to emphasize the view as well as the exceptional artwork.
Beautiful walnut millwork contrasts with white walls and soft furnishings, creating a focal point for art.
Comfort and serenity were two of the guiding principles in our design, especially with regard to color.
Artwork throughout was selected with an emphasis on Abstract Expressionism with artists such as Thomas, Pace, Boxer and Syd Solomon.
Soft neutral colors in fabrics, and lacquer finished case pieces, were used so as not to compete with the view, and also for a calming effect.
Simple, classical symmetry conveys a casual fluidity and calm aesthetic at The Concession Golf Club.

Throughout this residence, Italian glass artworks and accessories were used frequently to add color and reflect light. A trip to Italy provided unusual, exceptional and vintage pieces.
