The Dawn of a New Era For Biogas and Renewable Energy Production www.biog-uk.co.uk
BioG UK Ltd
Delivering in the UK
Our goal is to provide clients with the most efficient systems which are built to last, while maintaining long term backup and partnerships.
BioG UK Ltd is licensed to the BioG GmbH technology and will distribute this technology in order to provide the most efficient AD plants in the country.
Being the UK partner and dealer for the highly efficient “Energy Ring” and the second generation Austrian technology from BioG GmbH ensures clients can achieve maximum gas yields from feedstock and the highest engine operating uptimes in Europe.
Technological expertise and project management will be combined with feedstock providers to create a long term, profitable relationship within the renewable energy sector.
BioG UK Ltd are actively looking to work with farmers and landowners to provide partnership solutions in order to generate greater profit margins.
Providing profitable and “out of the box” solutions while tailoring a package for a long term future with clients is BioG UK’s main objective.
At BioG UK we believe every customer is unique and have very different requirements, this is why we will develop a solution tailor made to every demand.

BioG Energy Ring™ The unique Energy Ring™ design allows a continuous flow of material with affective mixing of feedstock. Outer ring (Primary Fermenter) channels material to maximise stirring with minimal power usage. Larger fermenter volumes (6,500m3 for a 1MW plant) maximise feedstock degradation ensuring cost per megawatt is minimised while increasing biological stability with varied feedstocks. The flat roof design strong enough to drive on allows complete maintenance of the plant, while allowing stirrers to be removed easily without emptying the fermenters.
Energy RingTM Top Down Stirrer
Energy Ring™ Gas Providing the CHP unit with biogas 100% of the time is essential and the gas tower allows this to be done. Providing the buffer between fermenter and CHP the computer monitored gas bag within the tower ensures constantly delivery of biogas. As levels fall, the control system is alerted to produce more gas within the Energy Ring. Effective stirring of feedstock within the fermenters is essential for efficient biogas production. German CSTR systems typically have 2 x large stirrers from the side which not only create “dead-spots” within the fermenters but are also under a large amount of cantilever strain. Should a stirrer break the fermenter must be drained resulting in up to 3 months downtime. The multiple Energy Ring™ stirrers are under less strain and effectively move material without dead-spots being created. Should a fault occur, the stirrer is simply removed from the top without the fermenter being shut down.
First course of action is to activate the bacteria again by stirring. Should the gas rise not be fast enough then the BioFeeder is turned on to deliver more feedstock. Visually the Energy Ring™ is more pleasing to the eye ensuring the planning process is not objected. The Energy Ring™ design has the capability of being designed in many configurations: • 500kW to 1.1MW (Twin Ring) • 1.5 to 2MW (Tri Ring)

Feeding The liquid reception area allows efficient storage of slurries and liquid wastes underground to minimise fermentation prior to delivery to the digester. A gantry filling pipe can also be specified for fast filling of tankers with end substrate. The automated central pump station will constantly monitor liquid levels and slurry content within the digester and will pump liquids to maintain a constant, efficient ratio for maximum gas production. Developed specifically for AD plants the BioFeeder by System Schmitzberger is extremely durable with anti corrosion properties. Extremely low power requirements and affective mixing system makes the BioFeeder a unique feeding system for silage, vegetable out-grades and more.

Independent electronic motors with augers allow further power reduction as only the required augers are used when moving material.

Unlike single and twin motor feedhoppers the BioFeeder provides security in case of motor failure.

Ring Plant Overview Insulation Heating and insulation is also an essential element to maintaining healthy bacteria to ensure maximum methane production. Once again the Energy Ring™ design is made for bacteria with its heating system. Combining poured concrete walls and heating pipes maximises insulation to maintain a constant temperature within the fermenter throughout the year. Placing the heat pipes within the walls prevents heat extremities inside the fermenter like German CSTR systems which run them inside the fermenter. Sudden hot and cold areas within the German CSTR prevent bacteria stability and result in wasted fermenter volume.
Biogas Storage and CHP Unlike other systems the Energy Ring™ design incorporates a separate biogas holder for methane storage. This gas bag within a tower acts as the biogas buffer for the CHP unit. The CHP unit feeds from the gas bag contributing to the staggering 8700 hour uptimes. As the biogas volume falls within the bag the automated control system is alerted to create more biogas. This activates the stirrers for substrate movement. After several activations biogas production will fall with the feedstock in the fermenter, then the BioFeeder is turned on to provide the bacteria with fresh feedstock and increase gas production. The gas bag will increase and tell the control system to slow biogas production, so maximising CHP uptimes and feedstock utilisation while minimising gas flaring. The BioG design incorporates the best components including all stainless steel piping and GE Jenbacher biogas CHP units. The GE Jenbacher units ensure maximum efficiency of biogas and the highest reliability. Independently

Sales
Joint Ventures
Like other biogas companies BioG UK Ltd can supply “off the shelf” Energy Ring anaerobic digesters with the ability to key the plant into the site. Complete project management ensures the clients site is built to specification and purpose while providing the guarantee of satisfaction after commissioning.
Should long term piece of mind be your priority then BioG UK Ltd can provide the Energy Ring at a cost price in exchange for a percentage of the site for the project life. This popular solution not only lowers the cost of the project but also allows our vested interest to maintain the highest possible efficiencies and uptimes over the project life span with the close operational contact between the client, BioG UK and BioG GmbH. Alternatively Joint Ventures can be setup with multiple ratios which comes with the benefit of finance and equity input benefits.
Service and Support
The BioG GmbH team based in Utzenaich, Austria offer technical and biological support to the customer while designing a tailor made solution for the site. Having the same core beliefs as BioG UK, BioG GmbH offer the experience for a user friendly, long term, profitable solution for every client.
Regardless of the package chosen, BioG UK Ltd can offer full support and backup for daily operation of the plant from remote biological monitoring to CHP maintenance and diagnostics with the aim of creating a long term relationship with every customer. Further services can include sales of electricity and Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROC’s), agronomy of energy crops and food waste brokering.

Contract Farming
Why Grow Energy Crops?
BioG UK Ltd can offer an alternative solution to landowners who would like to diversify or increase profit margins within their rotation. Offering attractive land rents and site leases the landowner can achieve a guaranteed income for 20 years or more without any capital outlay or responsibility for the site.
Growing maize, wholecrop triticale and energy beet can increase rotational margins while providing a long term stable income from the sale of electricity.
The landowner can even let BioG UK Ltd cultivate, plant and harvest the energy crops allowing farms to release unused machinery with the guarantee of sustainable management in every field.
Adding nutrient rich end substrate from the anaerobic digestion process will improve the soil’s characteristics and fertility. BioG UK Ltd and BioG GmbH are continuing research into increasing profit margins within energy crops with contacts across Europe. Increasing margins per hectare is the key to any farm and energy crops provide that alternative to standard combinable rotations with the end to break crops. Replacing existing non food crops with maize not only increase land efficiency for fuel but does not compete with food markets.
Growing maize, wholecrop triticale and energy beet can increase rotational margins while providing a long term stable income from the sale of electricity.
