Best Time to Visit Peru The best time to visit the Andes region including Cusco, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca is during the dry season which runs from late March / early April to late October / early November. The Amazon is hot and humid all year round, while the coastal regions including Lima and Paracas are mild in temperature for most of the year, hotter in the summer months from December to February, and experience minimal rain. Peak season is July and August when tourist sights are at their busiest and hotels can become booked up many months in advance. Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun

Peru, land of the Inca, is a country of discovery and adventure, steeped in history, iconic archaeology, beautiful wildlife and stunning scenery. Peru stretches from the Pacific ocean over the Andes mountains and into the Amazon jungle, and this geographic diversity has created a fabulous fusion of culture and cuisine, and a fascinating holiday destination. In our opinion, if you only ever visit one country in South America, make it Peru, as it truly encompasses the best of South America.

Highlights of Peru

Mindo

Colombia

1 Lima: Peru’s capital city is an enticing blend of modern chic and ancient history. During the day explore 2000 year-old pyramids and the historic centre, while in the evening enjoy exquisite cuisine in the culinary capital of the Americas. 2M achu Picchu: The sight of the emblematic and iconic Machu Picchu emerging from the clouds never fails to disappoint, and a visit to this UNESCO World Heritage site is a highlight of South America. 3 Cusco & the Sacred Valley: Cusco, capital of the Inca Empire, is a wonderful city full of temples, art galleries, churches and markets. The Sacred Valley leads to Machu Picchu and contains fabulous Inca ruins and traditional villages. 4 Lake Titicaca: Straddling the border between Peru and Bolivia is Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. The floating Uros Islands, Isla Taquile and the funerary towers at Sillustani are the key sights. 5 Arequipa & the Colca Canyon: The colonial “white city” of Arequipa houses the beautiful Santa Catalina monastery. In the Colca Canyon condors can be spotted gliding effortlessly through this stunning landscape. 6 The Peruvian Amazon: Peru’s Amazon contains an incredible diversity of mammals, reptiles, birds and wildlife as well as some wonderful jungle lodges. Choose from Manú or Tambopata near Cusco, or enjoy an Amazon cruise to spot the mysterious pink dolphins through the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve from Iquitos in the north. 7 Paracas & Nazca: The delightful coastal town of Paracas is the departure point for boat excursions to the Islas Ballestas to spot sea lions, dolphins and seabirds. The iconic and enigmatic Nazca Lines are nearby. 8 Northern Peru - Chan Chan & Sipán: Peru’s undiscovered north is home to historic treasures including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Chan Chan the largest adobe city in the world, the tomb of the Lord of Sipán and the Valley of the Pyramids. 9 Kuelap & Gocta Falls: Kuelap Fortress rivals Machu Picchu in terms of scale and grandeur yet receives only a fraction of the visitors. The Gocta Waterfall, one of the world’s highest at over 700 metres, was only discovered in 2005.

Best Time to Visit Ecuador and the Galápagos The Galápagos Islands are a year-round destination with two distinct seasons: a dry season from late June until December when the sea-mammals and land-birds are more active and water temperatures for swimming and snorkelling can be cooler, and a warm season from January to late May when the weather and waters are warmer with a slightly higher chance of rainfall. From August to October the seas can be slightly more choppy than the rest of the year. On the mainland the rolling valleys of the Andes including around Quito can create microclimates, but expect spring-like conditions, whilst the Amazon region it is hot and humid all year around.

ECUADOR & GALÁPAGOS Ecuador is a vibrant destination that includes the Amazon basin, volcanic peaks in the Andes and with a rich colonial history and fabulous architecture. One thousand kilometres away from the mainland the Galápagos Islands are world-renowned with wondrous volcanic landscapes, paradise beaches and crystalclear ocean bays waiting to be explored. There is fantastic wildlife including Darwin’s finches, flamingos, giant tortoises, marine iguanas, blue-footed boobies and much more. Explore the islands either by land or on a cruise and be rewarded with an experience to remember.

Best Time of Year to Visit Bolivia The highland altiplano region including La Paz, Lake Titicaca and Salar de Uyuni has a distinct dry season from April to late October and is best visited during this time of year when the terrain is dry making vehicle access easy. During the rainy season from December to March access to some areas can be difficult, although this is the best time of year to travel to take the famous reflection photos of the Salar. The Amazon region is hot and humid all year round. Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY We pride ourselves on our personal service, our commitment, and our dedication to all our customers to provide the care and attention deserved to create dream holidays and fascinating memories to be cherished forever. Find out what some of our previous customers have had to say about their experiences with Go Andes: “Maria, Jonathan and the team at Go Andes were fantastic the itinerary was great and all preparation was handled really professionally. Along the trip all the transfers and the guides were top notch and we had no hitches in what were quite complicated connections across multiple flights/destinations. We felt looked after, always informed and had great recommendations. We were able to add in last minute changes we wanted to include in the itinerary and the team always responded immediately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Go Andes for a fantastic and memorable trip and will definitely use them again when we next travel to Latin America!” Carolyn Storme and family.

“We had a fantastic adventure that we will always remember and we would recommend Go Andes to anyone thinking of visiting the area. Your addition of Bolivia really made the trip for us – I wouldn’t have known about this without your company and we were bowled over by the scenery both on the Salar and in the Altiplano. It was a truly great trip which we will never forget.” Olga and Tony Hammock.

“I’ve never liked the idea of going on a holiday which involved going from place to place and staying in different hotels every other day but it turned out to be the best holiday I’ve ever had. I didn’t know what to expect of Peru but was pleasantly surprised to find that is a safe and very friendly place compared to many European destinations. We were met at the airport in both Cusco and Lima by guides who were very friendly and informative. Apart from a couple of rest days our holiday was packed with tours and we were always picked up on time by friendly guides who were fluent in English.” Lindsay and Peter.

“Just wanted to say we’re safely back in the UK after the most fabulous Galapagos experience on the Petrel. We’re so pleased we found you and have been very impressed with your service from the speed of response to our initial enquiry to the very personal responses throughout. We’ve also been very happy with Raul, the guide driver provided in Quito. Thank you so much.” Joan Heagin and Ann Stone.

“Tremendous trip to Peru. We met the staff of Go Andes at a Destinations show where they simply gave us a brochure and told us it would be good place to go in August and that it would be a good experience. Our curiosity was piqued. After several exchanges of email when Jonathan and Maria couldn’t have been more helpful and patient our itinerary was finalised based around “Pure Peru”. At each new destination we were met by guides and transported to hotels, places of interest and departure points. The logistics were impressive. We had a fabulous time. The country and places of interest were amazing, the people very friendly and the happy memories numerous. Thank you Go Andes.” Martin Bibby and family.
