Welcome

Directors Cut Hi & welcome to the latest edition of our newsletter. What a rollercoaster year it’s been, from the highs of the Olympics and the Queen’s Jubilee to the lows of a non-existent summer and a disappointing Euro 2012. With that dreary summer in mind, we want to take this opportunity to say a big ‘thank you’ to all of those who attended the ‘Summer Shows’ or should we refer to them as ‘Wet Weekends’?! Unfortunately, both were hit by the heaviest rain and winds we have seen at that time of year for quite some time. Nevertheless, all who attended had a great time and the weather only seemed to bring out the true British spirit in everyone!

As many of you may know, November and December is sale time here at Webb’s Motor Caravans. We have therefore handpicked a selection of vehicles and put together some fantastic deals from our already competitive motor caravan range, with up to £5,000 off our normal prices. A full listing of our sale vans is available on our website, but remember the sale ends on Wednesday 19th December 2012. We’ve also welcomed some new faces to our team over the last couple of months. In Warminster Will has started in the workshop, Anna is working part-time on reception and Kate has joined the valet team. Whilst at Reading we have lots of new faces with new sales manager Damien, Samantha on reception, Karl and Stephen joining the valet team and Adam has started work in the shop.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our staff for their efforts throughout 2012 and not forgetting a big thank you to our customers for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you at the Summer Shows in 2013. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Bailey motorhomes go from strength to strength Earlier in the year The Bailey Approach SE 745 was announced as The Caravan Club Motor Caravan Design & Drive Competition Winner 2012. Bailey scooped the top award at its first attempt with the Bailey Approach SE 745. Competition testing took place at Newark Showground. A panel of four driving judges and six design judges evaluated fifty vehicles across six different classes for excellence in design, construction and handling characteristics, including reversing and manoeuvring. The judges praised the Approach SE 745 for its combination of solid build quality, featuring Bailey’s innovative Alu-Tech body shell construction, and outstanding value for money. Bailey also took first and second place in the category for Coachbuilts up to £45,000 with the Approach SE 625 finishing runner up the SE 745.

More awards...

A further award gained recently in Practical Motorhome’s Motorhome Of The Year Awards has added to Bailey’s growing reputation in the motorhome market. The company’s six-berth Approach SE 760 model claimed the title of Best Family Motorhome 2012. Commenting on the Approach SE 760 Practical Motorhome said “This Brit-built newcomer has stormed the motorhome market with its combination of roomy interior, superb manufactured quality and focus on passenger safety”. “This really is an impressive family motorhome” they added. Bailey Approach SE 740 and SE 745 were also shortlisted in the ‘Best Coachbuilt for Two’ and ‘Best Coachbuilt for Four’ categories respectively in the same competition highlighting the all round appeal of the company’s debut motorhome range. Award success has been mirrored by retail sales success on Retailer forecourts over the past twelve months and as a result the

existing Approach SE range will enter the 2013 model year unchanged. This is in-line with established Bailey product development policy where instead of changing ranges on a fixed date every twelve months the company is more customer lead undertaking a product re-design only when the market decides it is necessary. The great news for potential customers is that also means that OTR prices for Approach SE models are currently being held at 2012 levels meaning a new Bailey motorhome looks even better value in today’s market place.

More information on the Approach SE range can be found by visiting www.webbsmotorcaravans.co.uk or by contacting either branch. Winter 2012 | 5

Spectacular it was, but Summer? We’re not convinced about that. Despite such poor weather conditions a huge number of customers did us proud and turned up to join the fun of our biggest show of the year. Dubbed ‘Webbs do Glastonbury’ by many customers the event got started on Friday evening with a fun quiz and much needed hot drinks! Our showroom was buzzing with special offers, visiting reps, competitions and goodies galore during the three day show. Avtex, Fiamma, Safeguard, Black Horse and The Camping & Caravanning Club were all in attendance to offer help and advice. As always, our Saturday night party was the highlight of the weekend and provided a good chance for the Team to ‘let their hair down’ and mingle with customers in a relaxed environment. Everyone knows our

10 | Winter 2012

Staff look forward to this event more and more each year! Luckily the weather had no effect on sales and we outnumbered figures achieved in 2011, meaning just as we were all looking forward to taking it easy for a couple of weeks, the period after the show was actually busier than ever trying to prepare and hand over all the sold motor caravans to their proud new owners. This year’s event was booked to full capacity of 175 pitches (although the number who actually braved the rain was just over 100). If you wish to join us in 2013 and want to be alerted as soon as dates are released, we suggest you register for our monthly e-newsletter which contains not only our event dates, but all the latest news from Webbs, plus special offers and competitions too. Servicing

Gift Vouchers ‘The Perfect Christmas Present’

Servicing . . . how often? Your motor caravan will have it’s own comprehensive engine service plan, designed to keep it in tip top condition. It is very important that you stick to this plan and ensure servicing is carried out at regular intervals (either after you have driven a certain number of miles or after a given time period, whichever comes first). Check your engine service booklet to find out the recommended service intervals for your particular vehicle. If you would like further advice on any service related issues please do not hesitate to call Matthew Woodward at Reading on 01189-712424 or Tom Dickson at Warminster on 01985-212222.

Australia Do you have friends or family living in Australia who wish to visit the UK or Europe? Please spread the word about our Australian Company which offers affordable motor caravan touring for Australians visiting the UK and Europe. We are pleased to be able to offer expert advice at every step of the way and take pleasure in assisting our customers in finding the most cost effective option for their travels, whether that is to hire a motor caravan for the duration of their stay or to purchase a motor caravan and benefit from our guaranteed buy back scheme. Airport collections, breakdown cover and supply of accessory packs are just a few of the services the Company can provide. If you would like further details including website address please call either branch.

Hi Tom Sorry we have not got back to thank you and your team before now. We would like to thank you for the whole process of changing over from the Swift Escape 622 to the Swift Sundance 620FB. I never felt under any pressure to do the deal at anytime, and from the first visit, to the handov er we were impressed. All the staff we dealt with were very approachable, nothing seemed to much trouble. We are extremely happy with the Sundance, and have had many success ful & enjoyable trips so far, and have many more planned. Even my wife who had not seen the vehicle prior to collection is extremely happy, and glad we made the change. We did have an amusing issue while on the A303 after leaving your premises. I have never used a reversing camera before, and I had the shock of my life when I looked and saw a car under taking us! It was only after I began to slow down that I realised it was a mirror image and the car was actually over taking us . . . thankfully! We would have liked to have attended the Warminster summer show in July, but we are away a couple of days later, so this year is out for us, we may well see you there in 2013 though. Once again, we would like to thank you and your staff for the very profess ional way everything was dealt with. We would definitely recommend you and your company to family and friends. Thank you. Customer Comments We always aim to provide a service second to none. Below are just a few of the comments received on the satisfaction questionnaires we sent out to customers following their purchase. We have purchased 3 vans from Webbs. All Staff are very helpful & polite and Tom treats us like old friends, which makes things very nice for us. We cannot fault your excellent service and it always is excellent. We wish you much success. Mrs J Willoughby, Warminster Great job, Tom is a great guy. Mr Ansell, Redditch Excellent service all round. Nice coffee and chat with Lizzie whilst we were waiting for paperwork on our new motorhome to be dealt with. When we first visited to view the motorhome Phil answered all questions fully and arranged extras we wanted without fuss. We were allowed to make our own decision on purchase without any hard sell – an excellent policy. Handover and explanation of how everything worked on the motorhome by Darren was very clear and structured. Thanks also to Max for a super job of polishing out a deep scratch on one of the rear windows. We always said that when we changed our existing motorhome we would give Webbs a try first due to service previously received from you. We are so glad we did. Mr Beaton, Colerne All in all an excellent experience. Mr & Mrs Greig Could not fault Webbs or Phil Smith in any way. We will recommend and return. Mrs Drummond, Southampton

We were really impressed by the way everybody was working as a team – a really nice atmosphere. Mrs Horrocks, Bath I have been motor caravanning for around 12 years and have dealt with Webbs from my first purchase from David Webb to my further 4 vans from Tom Shephard. Whenever in conversation about motorhomes I always recommend and sing the praises of Webbs – Warminster & Reading. Keep up the good work. Mr Harwood, Kidlington Very warm welcome and good, clear advice. Excellent service all round and would highly recommend your dealership. Mr Ward, Exeter We have always found everyone very helpful and pleasant. In fact it is a pleasure to deal with you. You are the tops – gold medal. Mr Brady, Trowbridge

Being completely new to motor caravans I found the whole set up at Webbs to be brilliant and unlike some places there was no hard sell. Wonderful service & very helpful. Mr Davies, Weymouth I have recommended Webbs and Tom Shephard on numerous occasions as I am more than happy to do so in the knowledge that anyone I recommend to Webbs will be treated superbly. Thank you all so much. Mr Adams, Melksham I was pleasantly surprised to not be pressured at all by Phil Smith. It was such a pleasure to do business with Webbs. I never felt rushed or pushed into anything I didn’t feel was right. Having a problem with my memory it was fantastic the service I received from Darren at handover. He took his time, waited while I wrote things down and repeated when I asked. At NO point did he make me feel stupid or inadequate. I felt very relaxed throughout the whole process with Phil & Darren. I am recommending Webbs to all my friends who have motorhomes. I shall now deal with Webbs for all my motorhome needs, even if you are an hour and a half away. Thank you so much for such a wonderful service. Miss Hewitt-Taylor, Abingdon

Doug Sheppard

Player/Coach for the Basingstoke Bison Ice Hockey Team. Shep or Dougie as he is known, was born in Georgetown,

“I am over the moon as we were promoted to the top league which looked a very hard league but we just kept working hard, I promised the boys a night out at the local curry house if we were Champions. We had to share a korma and naan each as the budget would not stretch.” The new season has started in a different way for Tom, the first game of the season saw him sustain a bad double dislocation and two fractures to his thumb, this resulted in

surgery which will rule him out for at least two seasons. But don’t worry, he can still use his left hand to write out order forms. We wish Tom a speedy recovery, thumbs up Tom!
