Modern orthodox architecture competitions, from 1990 to 1994. After the falling of the communist regime, building of churches was allowed. This caused in the architectural field a real debate on how to do them after 50 years of absence. Competitions were launched by the Romanian Orthodox Church. The first one in this slide show, was my solution in a competion for the heroes of the revolution cemetery church. The symbolic theme was that the "church" is "reconnesance" to the heroes. The cemetery was already there. Its site plan, the site was the generator of the shape, because the main alley was oriented north-south, but the entrance of the church had to be to the west. The church therefor has 2 main facades: the one that is to the south is facing the cemetery and is taking the main alley through it (an open door that has the bells at its upper part, the voice of the church diffusing in the cemetery) to the main entrance. The view, the vanishing point from the alley is a column at the entrance (on the west/canon)
