Twenty-five influentials
from Luso Life Issue 001
by LusoLife
Over the centuries, there have been a lot of famous Portuguese people who have left their mark on the world – Explorers like Bartolomeu Dias, Henry the Navigator, Vasco da Gama, Ferdinand Magellan; Literary figures Luís Vaz de Camões, Fernando Pessoa and Jose Saramago; musicians Amália Rodrigues and Mariza; and sports figures like Rosa Mota and Cristiano Ronaldo. But what about in Canada? When it comes to Portuguese-Canadians, it’s not all Vinho do Porto and bacalhau. Portuguese-Canadians are showing their influence throughout our country and the world.
Who are these influential people? They are musicians and Olympians. Fashionistas and activists. Politicians and scientists. They influence millions of people online and in boardrooms. Some are young and some have experience. They are immigrants and children of immigrants.
