THE CONSCIOUS COUPLE
Interviewed by: Candice Bar Featuring: Darcy and Corinne Cavanaugh
You have been coined as the Conscious Couple what does that mean to you?

Corinne: First and foremost, our main focus as the Conscious Couple is to always help others. In order to be successful at this, we are conscious of the many things that are happening with us in our everyday lives, society and the whole world and how they all intertwine. We strive to be aware of everything that is going on in our world so we can continue to focus on helping others. This is something that is very important to Darcy and me. One way we are working to help others is through our nutraceutical company which is an exciting new venture of ours. We also enjoy doing charity work and philanthropy. There are certain organizations that are very important to us.
Darcy: In being the Conscious Couple, we want to be the ambassadors of goodness. We consider ourselves to be good people and want to align with other good people to do great things. We practice this in our business, our life, and with our relationship. We make decisions together by being conscious of each other’s wants, needs and values.
-Corinne Cavanaugh
Why is giving back such an obvious importance?
Corinne: Giving back is where its at! Giving back is what drives us. When you give, you feel better. If I go and volunteer somewhere such as the women’s shelter or the food bank or the soup kitchen, you just feel better. There is a place here in Red Deer where I went and helped out the Women’s Dress for Success. It’s for helping women reenter into the work force after going through abusive relationships or immigrant women trying to reenter the work force to help provide for their family. For me, going there and being able to help those women dress and feel good about themselves, it filled my cup up. It’s just amazing what it can do.
Darcy: It’s part of our internal makeup. It speaks to us, it’s part of where our heart is. Corinne and I don’t go out there consciously making an effort to put others best interest ahead of our own, it’s just something that we do and has always come naturally.
Corinne: Yes, and we don’t need accolades for it either. We do good out of the goodness of our hearts, it’s not to be recognized or to be placed in the spotlight. We enjoy it.
Being partnered in life and in business is not always easy and fun, what is your secret sauce to maintaining a healthy relationship on all levels?
Darcy: The word compromise comes up a lot.
Corinne: Yes, and agreeing to disagree. We find it important to never give up, no matter how hard it is, and always being consistent. It is important to hear each other’s viewpoints and find a way that each one can be implemented into the business. This way, each of our voices are heard. We also have two sons, so another way to make business work is there had to be enough time for me to be with the family and keep the house going and flowing and the kids while Darcy was on the front lines of the business. There had to be balance. When we would have stressful days, we would support each other. Even if we both had a stressful day we could relate and support each other with our stress.
What are your top 3 characteristics about each other that you value?
Corinne: Darcy’s integrity. His loyalty to me and to our children. And he has a deep love for me, we are soul mates and it’s just amazing. He has such great passion paired with determination. If he gets an idea, nothing is holding him back. He is a lot less fearful than I am. Darcy is way more willing to jump into something and do it and knows we will figure it out along the way. I truly admire that. I have more fear, but I appreciate what Darcy does because that helps me to grow more and become less fearful.
Darcy: I would just mirror that with Corinne. Her loyalty, commitment to myself and it goes way deeper than just my being. We complement each other.
Throughout your partnership, what have you learned to accept from each other?
Corinne: Darcy is very Type A personality. He is very particular with certain things. There are things that I am very particular about though, and he’s not.
Darcy: They are all little things. Nothing that is like “Oh ok I’ll just have to deal with this for the rest of my life”, it’s never like that. In our relationship those little things come up on occasion, but rarely do they ever come up because we’ve been together for so long. Corinne has made me a better person, and hopefully I’ve made her a better.
Corinne: Yes, Darcy has made me a better person as well. We’ve been together since I was 16 and Darcy was 17.
Darcy: And that’s why I don’t have anything critical to say because I’ve become more like her and she’s become more like me. We’ve become each other. We are one entity.
The Cavanaugh’s have been very successful for over 30 years working together as husband and wife, business partners and best friends.
How did the relationship blossom?
Corinne: We were so young when we met, we started as just friends. When I was in high school and Darcy was in University, it grew into something that was way more than just friends.
Darcy: We were together for 7 years before we got married. Darcy: During our early years in our relationship there were a few times where there were opportunities for us to go separate ways. Even when I went away for University, we were a part, and I’d come home on weekends. Technology wasn’t as good back then, so the regular wall mounted phone was there, so we had once a week conversation and I’d come home on the weekends hopefully. We had several opportunities for us to have different relationships and it didn’t happen.
Corinne: We feel like we have always been together, even in past lives. We have had so many past lives together and we are meant to be.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Darcy, you’ve hit the ground running, you’ve gotten some early bumps and bruises and still maintained. From Corinne’s perspective, what are your feelings to see this firsthand?
Corinne: He exited his past career of 30 years and then BOOM; within 2 months we’re making these big deals. It did worry me a little bit at first. When we started this journey, there was no more consistent income coming in. I came from a very middle-class family and it was in the oil industry growing up. We had to wait a few months sometimes for a lot of these oil field companies to submit payment to my family. That is always a fear of mine that I am working on, that the money isn’t going to come in. There are days that I have that I am scared thinking about how Darcy has jumped into this business. Again, I think it has a lot to do with how I grew up. There are many adjustments to be made in mindset and in life, but they are all good. Darcy is now home all of the time as well which is different. On this entrepreneurial journey we’ve relented to the universe and we are trusting this whole process. We are in this together, and it’s for the good. We still have to look out for ourselves though. I do trust Darcy because he is a very astute and keen businessman with great intuition. He has never led our family into something wrong, so I trust him completely and support him.
Darcy: Yes, and even though this is the first time I have been a “full time” entrepreneur, what Corinne doesn’t realize is the 30 years I was in the insurance industry, 25 years of it as an owner, I was always investing in myself and more shares of the company. I was always taking a leap of faith with the business. Corinne has always been, and I know will always be right alongside me. What I’ve done now is withdrawn my financial holdings out of the insurance industry, and am using that to get involved and becoming a serial entrepreneur, very quickly. With that being said, to me it’s not very different from what I have always been doing even when I was involved in the insurance industry. The one big difference now is that we are on the accelerated program as far as getting involved in other businesses. For a better perspective, what we did over 25 years in the insurance industry, we are condensing into about 5 months! “The word retirement is not in my vocabulary. There is nothing better than being engaged and excited about something.” -Darcy Cavanaugh
Corinne: Yes, and there is a huge part of me that loves it! It’s stimulating, it keeps you young, healthy and vibrant too.
Darcy: The day I exited my insurance career I said to Corinne “Yes, we could park our money and be financially set for the rest of our lives, but there is no way in this world I am parking our money. I want to be active.”
Corinne: Yes, there are so many retired people that literally they just go and sit in Palm Desert. This is not for us. Its stagnant and not fun. Eventually you could choose to not take on as many projects or delegate more, but at the end of the day, at our age you can choose how busy you want to be.
Tell us about the new company and product you’ve launched.
Darcy: The name of the company is Salvation Nutraceuticals Inc. and the name of our product is GSH+. GSH is the acronym for glutathione. It is the combination of ingredients in our product that triggers the production of glutathione in the body. Glutathione is the master antioxidant in your body that conducts immunotherapy building and strengthening for your immune system.
Corinne: I would love to start out by saying our product is brilliant. Its intended to take as a daily product for the rest of your life, not on a per symptom basis. Glutathione is needed in your body for many things.
Darcy: Yes, there are a lot of benefits such as: it enhances respiratory function, supports cognitive function, elevated sense of well-being, supports muscle strength and endurance, may help blood sugar regulation, promotes intracellular immune function, helps boost the immune system to fight bacteria viruses and pathogens, increased energy, powerful liver support, and superior bioavailability of key ingredients. The ingredients in our product are all great on their own, but collectively the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. Corinne: Synergistically they are power houses.
Darcy: We will be the first company that has this specific formula. Our product also has an important ingredient, NACET. NACET increases the production of glutathione in your body and it is instrumental in the absorption of glutathione. For an example, as soon as Vitamin C is oxidized by the cell, the cell can no longer utilize the Vitamin C. NACET grabs a hold of the Vitamin C and makes it active again in your cell allowing for increased production, absorption and utilization. NACET increases the production of the master antioxidant glutathione. This breakthrough ingredient increases the absorption of vital nutrients to combat harmful free radicals to optimize your immune system.
Corinne: Its similar to a double blade. If you think of a double-edged razor blade its high quality and it has top quality ingredients to help with that absorption rate. Not only that, but it does cross the blood brain barrier. With that being said, it’s not like a Vitamin C. If you take too much of something, your body only uses what it needs and flushes the rest of it out. With our product that utilizes NACET, the antioxidant remains in the body, travels through the blood brain barrier, and it stays in the body. It finds all of the damaged cells that need to be repaired, and it stays there until the cell regenerates again.
Darcy: That’s where the cognitive function support comes in. It helps the free radicals and it detoxes your body of any type of heavy metals or compromising agents.

Being an entrepreneur at this moment with COVID-19, what are some tips that you could give other entrepreneurs to help them move forward in a positive way?
Darcy: Setting intentions for the day is very and age with COVID-19 happening. We can’t say it is a cure for COVID-19, but it will certainly keep the immune system strong. It is important to note under these unprecedented times that it is an immune system product. immune system”, the word “boosts” gets overused, it strengthens it. Boosting it is temporary. Our product GSH+ builds and strengthens the immune system. good word, its therapy and maintenance for your immune system.
important. I always say positive thinking matters.
Corinne: Perspective and routine matters. You have to ground yourself and get yourself to be in a place where things are ok. From there, you can grow and do what you need to do. We are very blessed because what we are doing with our new
What are your feelings behind the creation of the product?
Darcy: I think it is very relevant in today’s day
Corinne: Yes, it’s like the invisible mask but more.
Darcy: I don’t like to say the words “it boosts your
Corinne: That’s why immunotherapy is such a product is not negatively influenced economically. Darcy: Yes, however, some of our business is influenced by the economy in a way. Positive thoughts and intentions daily help. Count your blessings and think of all the good things we do have as opposed to all the things you don’t have. Corinne: There are a lot of people who are struggling right now, and it is really hard to stay positive and to count your blessings. Some families have all lost their job and are struggling to take care of elderly parents or disabled children. It is really difficult. It is important to appreciate what we do have because we really all are finding now that we really do not need a lot to be happy. We are finding that it doesn’t matter how many purses, shoes or clothes we have. It is a short-term excitement. Darcy: With entrepreneurs, the whole world is changing. There is nothing normal anymore. However, with all of these changes it is creating a lot of opportunity. What was then is not now. I advise that you look for the opportunities instead of thinking that’s not the way it was yesterday, and it will never go back to that. So, look at the opportunities and open your mind to change to create a new way.
Corinne: This pandemic is forcing people to think outside the box and become more creative to become successful. For example, around here where we live there are a lot of breweries that are making hand sanitizer! They have the ability because hand sanitizer has alcohol. Also, the oil economy is in the hole right now and a lot of the factories here are producing and making parts for ventilators. Many manufacturing facilities are retooling and manufacturing something else that is needed right now.
How do you want to leave your legacy?
impact and understanding that you can be a very successful person and a good person at the same time. You can do business clean. a good person. Most of the world is becoming “me, me, me, what is this going to do for me?”. They don’t think about what this could do for others. stand that you work damn hard for what you’re going to get, be good to others and just be a good human being. Have integrity in life and business. If there is corruption, get rid of it. Keep yourself surrounded with good energy. Darcy: Another piece of advice is to never be in one lane. If everybody is looking in one direction, look in the other direction. The world is creating holes in the business world, so fill

LEGACIES
Darcy: I believe that good has to trump evil. As far as business is concerned, there are plenty of people out there to tell you how to get rich. People can get rich, but they don’t know how to be rich, there is a big difference. If business comes from your heart, it’s always a beautiful thing. Money is external. You can’t take the paper money, that is dirty, people have touched it, and attach that to your heart and make it eternal. What you believe and what you want always to have to be in alignment. You have to be open to abundance. When that happens, flow happens. When you are open to abundance, and the universe knows you are going to help others, that is the secret sauce right there. The money will then find you, because the universe knows those of us who want to truly help others and do good.
Can you each leave us with a final thought or statement on entrepreneurship or business and relationships?
Darcy: I want to make the point that whether it’s a personal relationship, a business or in life, if you do the same things in all three of those, they are all connected. They should all have the same protocol of integrity and loyalty. Corinne: From a personal marriage standpoint, agree to disagree and be ok with it. Each person in the marriage is allowed to have their own opinion and life. If you need to have an argument about something, have that argument and then be done with it. Life goes on and don’t bring it up again. Darcy: Yes, kick your garbage to the curb. Don’t hoard onto that negative energy or disagreement after it is resolved. You can choose to come together because some of the parts are greater than the whole. Corinne: We truly do not like conflict, but we don’t avoid it. If we have a disagreement or something that one of us did that, we are mad about, we can’t stay mad very long we have to deal with it. Both sides have to be open to listening and working towards a solution together. It can’t be one sided. Darcy: Good energy is exhausted very quickly by bad energy.
Corinne: This is for the female entrepreneurs especially, when you look good, you feel good and can continue to do good! Style your own life.
