“The Mankato Clinic emphasizes patient care. I LOVE working for the Mankato Clinic and always tell people that it is so easy to care for patients when you work for a place that truly appreciates their employees,” Lanie says.
Every year, the Mankato Clinic names a Thrive Ambassador to recognize a team member who embodies the “Together we thrive” culture. This year, it’s Lanie Buretta, Radiologic and CT Technologist.
“Lanie is an absolute joy to work with! She always comes in with a smile on her face. She is willing to go the extra mile for patients – getting a smile out of even the toughest of patients. She works mostly evenings and she is a breath of fresh air when she comes in and brightens everyone’s afternoon,” says Lindsey Walker, BS, RT, Diagnostic Imaging manager.
Lanie works the afternoon, evening and weekend shifts in Diagnostic Imaging. In the afternoons, she does CT scans, X-rays and mammograms. While many patients are scheduled, she also accommodates patients at a moment’s notice. On evenings and weekends, she performs CT scans and X-rays for Urgency Care.
“I have built a strong working relationship and friendship with the Urgency Care department,” Lanie says.
A computed tomography (CT) scan is a diagnostic tool that detects injuries and diseases. Combining a computer with an X-ray machine, a CT scan produces a very detailed 3-D image of soft tissues and bones. With a donut-shaped tube that rotates the X-ray around the body, a CT study usually has on average 700 or more images!
“In high school, I volunteered at the hospital through a career class. I went to medical records and radiology and discovered my love for the field,” Lanie says.
Lanie has worked at Mankato Clinic for 10 years. She joins team building activities and attends clinic events like the holiday party and summer picnic. When Mankato Clinic participates in community events and fundraisers such as Climb2Feed Kids, Lanie is the first to volunteer and recruits others to join. She also recommends Mankato Clinic to friends and family members who are looking for a job.
“I work with amazing coworkers, management, and providers. With all the cross communication and friendliness between departments and locations, the Mankato Clinic feels like a big family,” Lanie says.
