Jacob Hodsdon and Lisa Holt-Hodsdon are kokeshi artisans based in Ithaca, NY. Together, they craft distinctive kokeshi that highlight the texture of wood and the shapes of the wood burls.
“We source the most interesting pieces of wood we can find and then tame them slightly leaving as much of nature as possible (wabisabi). We incorporate the Lathe, carving tools, pyrography, paint, dye and shellac finish. This process brings our kokeshi to life and fills a space with joy.”
