H o te l Il Metropole Maison d’Hôtes nasce nel cuore antico di Taormina, posizionato su una vetta a strapiombo sul mare e adiacente su un lato all’antica Torre dell’Orologio e sull’altro al corso principale. Un hotel storico in un palazzo del XVII secolo che segnò gli anni d’oro della belle époque siciliana. Dopo oltre 40 anni di silenzio riapre le porte agli ospiti nelle ritrovate vesti di storica magnificenza dove design contemporaneo ed eleganza classica trovano il giusto equilibrio negli spazi di questo hotel 5 stelle lusso che incanta i suoi ospiti con i suoi ambienti ricercati, i sapori della buona cucina siciliana e una splendida vista sulla baia di Taormina. Da palazzo nobiliare fu trasformato intorno al 1860 in “Locanda Bellevue” ma nei primi del 1900 l’hotel acquisì il nome Metropole e lo mantenne fino al 1970 anno in cui chiuse i battenti. Le sapienti opere di ristrutturazione hanno saputo risaltare gli elementi architettonici originari e riportare alla luce non solo pezzi di ineguagliabile valore – come l’antico marmo della scalinata d’ingresso, gli intonaci originali e le nobiliari altezze dei soffitti ma anche l’aurea leggendaria e mitologica di cui questo luogo è carico. La hall è un giardino d’inverno riportato agli antichi splendori di quando il Kaiser Guglielmo II vi si recava a prendere il the, com’è testimoniato dalle lettere che scriveva alla figlia.

S pa Nella parte più antica del palazzo risalente al ‘400, l’ampia SPA si estende per l’intera superficie dell’edificio. Hammam, piscina- idromassaggio, posarium con lettini in pietra lavica riscaldati si incastrano e si sviluppano sulle superfici materiche e la secolare pietra viva, che a tratti attraversa geometrie di rara bellezza. Due antiche colonne di inestimabile valore, risalenti al periodo Greco-Romano ritrovate durante gli scavi, sono l’odierna cornice al bagno turco.

H o te l The Metropole Maison d’Hôtes born in the ancient heart of Taormina, located on a mountaintop overlooking the sea on one side and adjacent to the ancient clock tower and on to the main course. A historic hotel in a XVII century which marked the golden years of the belle époque of Sicily. After more than 40 years of silence reopens its doors to guests in the guise of historical splendor found modern designs and classic elegance found the right balance in the spaces of this luxury 5-star hotel enchants its guests with its setting, with the flavors of good Sicilian cuisine and a splendid view over the bay of Taormina. From palace was transformed in 1860 in “Bellevue Inn” but in the early 1900 acquired the name the hotel Metropole and kept it until 1970 year in which closed its doors.
