NATURAL OILS AND FATS ARE AN IMPORTANT SUBSTANCE FOR THE BODY AND BRAIN. HEALTHY FATS AND OILS ARE BEST SOURCED FROM EATING WHOLE NATURAL FOODS AS OPPOSED TO GETTING THEM FROM BOTTLED OIL PRODUCTS. Eating fat foods in their original form (whole fruits) ensures that they go into the body ‘complete’ with all their associated natural substances intact and unaltered. These all help the body to absorb, digest and assimilate the oil fat properties. Isolated bottled oil products are not the same. You can use good natural healthy saturated fat oils to push out the bad oils in the body. And overweight people can use good fats to replace the bad fats in their body in this way too.

CHOLESTEROL Chole-sterol is an antioxidant and anti-fatty acid that protects against cancer and heart disease. It is manufactured by many cells in the body, not just the liver. It’s place is in the cells and only becomes a problem, in the arteries for example, when it moves from the cells into the blood. Bad oils in the body help to create this problem too. Cholesterol, both LDL and HDL are not the villain and it is more about having the right cholesterol in the right place rather than lowering it. If you don’t change your oil regularly, cholesterol can oxidize and fats can go rancid in the body. Dandruff is an example of a rancid oil in the body. Interestingly, a little exposure to the midday sun helps regulate our cholesterol and sweet fruits, particularly oranges, increase the production of good cholesterol, as do eggs.

KNOW YOUR OILS

GOOD OILS A good source of healthy oils for the body can be sourced from eating these fat fruits in the morning:

BOTTLED OILS When an oil is extracted from a fruit or plant it is separated from the other compounds in that fruit that would help with the digestion and absorption of the oil fat. It is not exactly the same now, being refined. The further processing of the extracted oil will also have an effect on how usable it remains. When heated for example, some oils are altered chemically. Certain oils are more delicate than others and don’t last well when taken out of their natural bound state in the whole food. Many bottled oils are blended and mixed with other cheaper oils and are no longer 100% pure from the original extract. Bottled oils should be stored in glass, and of a dark colour as oils are affected by exposure to light and will degrade over time. ` Oils should not be overheated as this alters them to become toxic in the body.

Avocado - goes well with pine nuts Coconut - drink the water inside and/or eat the white flesh meat. 100% pure coconut oil can last a long time though many are not pure being mixed with other oils. Pure coconut oil can be heated to a high degree without altering it making it ideal for cooking with. Durian - a strong tasting fruit so can also be blended into a fruit smoothie. Olives and olive oil (look for oil that is dark and heavy, not light and clear) Nut Oil - Nuts have good oils in them too and go very well with fruits in the morning. Particularly almond, hazelnut, peanut or palm nuts.

Bottled oils are second best to first generation fat oils from the original fruit or plant and are vulnerable to being degraded further.

Butter And Cream - both very good fats. Butter can be used liberally throughout the day.

OILS BEST AVOIDED Flax seed oil - ages very quickly and deteriorates. Linoleum (floor covering) was made from linseed oil (the old name for flax seed oil)

Clarified butter (Ghee) - an excellent fat. Clarified butter (the yellow butter fat) takes the cholesterol that hardens and is damaging in the body and removes it as the ‘yellow butter fat’ is good lubricatory cholesterol. It is the white factor of normal butter that causes trouble. When u clarify butter by making ghee you take out the bad cholesterol (hardening cholesterol) or ‘white fat’.

Sunflower oil - breaks down too fast Fish oils - break down and go rancid much faster than any other oil and are not essential for our body at all which was known a long time ago.

Butter/Ghee is a food that can be eaten at any time of day and can be heated to a high temperature without altering it which makes it ideal for cooking with. It is simple to make by melting butter and separating the yellow fat from the white fat. Ghee has a long history of use in India.

Cooking oils - many cooking oils sold today are more of a plastic type substance than natural oils and can be made even worse by overheating them. One of the most damaging things for health and aging is putting bad oils, rancid or chemically altered oils, into the body.

By getting your fats and oils from nature directly and unaltered it is hard to go wrong and this will protect you from the potentially damaging effects of bad or altered oils.

When art and fashion collaboration is discussed, often luxury clothes and accessories are considered such as Louis Vuitton X Takashi Muramaki - or a beautiful photograph with fascinating illustrations. Art and fashion encourage different perspectives. Fashion, however is not defined just as clothing, it can also be bags or forms of decorative art. It is believed that it is a mirror of what has happened in each era, as Roland Barthes (1964) claimed, fashion is a form of semiology which is sign of cultural changes. The crossover between contemporary art and fashion is an important phenomenon in the global economic climate. This collaboration can dictate fashion trends. On the other hand, the expansion of creative fields inspires people, which makes art inhabit broader spaces, and gradually filter into everyday life. In light of this, the current and unusual collaborations happening in the fashion industry will be explored. This publication will highlight art fashion collaborations which go beyond the typical work of the artist and fashion designer and create a unique and unusual dynamic. Fashion is not only about clothing, but about lifestyle and experiences that go deeper than just visual aesthetic.

he iconic cocktail Mondrian dress broke new ground for the future role of art in fashion. It considered the changing dynamics of the art and fashion worlds, and showed mutually beneficial collaborations as a new type of fashion. It was the first time Mondrian was involved with the fashion world. This style in fashion and art today created interest and sparked a new trend. Be it colour or the shape of an entire structure with comprehensive idea, with the simple and clean design to produce distinctive modern form, and finally get rid of the traditional style. It suited the future Modernism trend, and influenced the whole modernist design movement, also contributing to the innovative thinking of future designs.

Yayoi Kusama X Louis Vuitton Following a collaborative artistic retrospective of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, Louis Vuitton celebrates her unique style with the Infinity Dots collection. Kusama had built Louis Vuitton into a colourful and fantasy wonderland feel with her “dots” symbolic Kusama’s dots had inspired Marc Jacob to invite her to create a different world of Louis Vuitton. It was probably the largest fashion and art collaboration of Louis Vuitton, from the leather goods, ready-to-wear, bags, watches and other accessories had full of the polka dot patterns. According to a release, Jacobs is a longtime fan of Kusama and visited her studio in Japan in 2006. “ The obsessive character and the innocence of her artwork touch me,” Jacobs said. “She succeeds in sharing her vision of the world with us.” So it follows that “obsession” and “seriality” are the starting points for the collection.

THE MONA LISA MYSTERY

If asked to name the most famous painting in the world, the chances are you would say the Mona Lisa. Why? Is it the best? That is a personal opinion but most will agree that it is the most iconic.

FAME AT LAST! The scandal and the unanswered questions were ideal fodder for the media. Increasingly scathing attacks on the police and the Louvre were accompanied by photos of the Mona Lisa.

At the beginning of the last century, however, she remained largely unknown outside of a select circle in the Western art world. That would change in 1911.

The articles included snippets about the painting such as the enigmatic smile, disputes as to her identity and other questions. Newspaper circulation rose, and the story went global, taking with it awareness of the Mona Lisa. She quickly became a household name around the world.

BUNGLING INCOMPETENCE In August 1911, an Italian named Peruggia walked from the Louvre unopposed with the painting under his jacket. The theft went unnoticed for 24 hours. The French press enjoyed the opportunity to poke fun at the Louvre authorities and the story just kept on getting bigger. The police investigation staggered from one fiasco to the next. w a poet who had threatened to burn down the Louvre, was arrested and jailed but quickly pointed the finger at his ‘friend’ Picasso, who had unwisely just sold some statues stolen from the Louvre. Both were finally acquitted. Peruggia was interviewed twice but deemed too stupid to have undertaken such an audacious theft. The head of the police investigation resigned in shame.

BACK AT THE LOUVRE The original remained undiscovered for two years, hidden in Peruggia’s flat in Paris. Eventually, the Italian, under the misguided notion it had been stolen from Italy at the orders of Napoleon, offered it back to the Italian nation for a hefty reward. The Italian police were contacted and Perrugia was arrested, tried but strangely spent less than a year in a French prison. A bizarre anti-climax to one of the art world’s greatest thefts. IS IT THE ORIGINAL? Unlike in 1911 when the painting simply hung on a hook on the wall, today the Mona Lisa is protected by numerous anti-theft and anti-vandalism devices. To view her, you must pass through airport-style security, along with jostling crowds of people, to stare – cordoned off at a distance – at her image safe behind a glass wall. Are you looking at the original or a copy?

HOW COULD YOU TELL? Fortunately, no-one seems to care and six million people a year continue to queue for hours to get a brief glimpse of her inscrutable smile. Would they bother if Perrugia had not slipped the painting under his jacket over a hundred years ago? Maybe not.

REAL OR FAKE? FACT: Leonardo painted three versions of the Mona Lisa, one on top of the other.

The artist began his portrait of Mona Lisa on a poplar wood panel in 1503 but set it aside to work on a civic mural. Returning to the painting between 1504 and 1506, Leonardo tinkered with his model’s features and placement. Years later, as sophisticated imaging techniques reveal, he added subtle shadings and adorned her with long, bright red tresses (since faded into brown) to create what is considered among art historians as the “Third Mona Lisa” — the portrait we see in the louvre. Mystery may always swirl around this most famous of paintings and its subject, but one thing remains certain: five centuries after a genius immortalized her, the world cannot stop looking at the Renaissance woman whom everyone recognizes — and whose secrets we are just getting to know.

DESIGNER EDUARD GRAY CALLS IT “A LIGHTHEARTED DESIGN STUDY EXPLORING THE LIMITS OF YACHT Designer Eduard Gray calls it “a lighthearted design study exploring the limits of yacht design”, though there’s some serious speed in this 75-metre beast, which delivers a planned top speed of 35 knots. The catamaran’s lines take some inspiration from the Vapour GT supercar concept, which Gray Design produced last year. Both vehicles have the same paintwork in concept form.

“The wildly raked forward windscreen is in fact a skylight for a large lounge on the owner’s deck and the pilothouse is raised to give good panoramic visibility. There is a large beach club and reception area at the aft of the yacht, and a large space for a helipad at the bow,” says Eduard Gray.

Gray Design’s Fairwei concept, launched earlier this year, similarly partnered a superyacht with a matching supercar. The company has also announced this week that it has has signed a contract to begin developing new conceptual ideas with the design team at Saab cars.

JAZZ S U P E R YA C H T In one of her final projects, the late Zaha Hadid collaborated with the Hamburg-based shipbuilders Blohm+Voss to design a new concept for a family of superyachts: a 128-meter master prototype that will eventually spawn five, fully-engineered, 90-meter “Unique CircleYachts.” The overall design is informed by fluid dynamics and underwater ecosystems, with hydrodynamic research shaping the design of the hull.

a Hadid has collaborated with the Hamburg-based shipbuilders Blohm+Voss to design a new concept for a family of superyachts: a 128-meter master prototype that will eventually spawn five, fully-engineered, 90-meter “Unique Circle Yachts.” According to Hadid, the overall design is informed by “fluid dynamics and underwater ecosystems, with hydrodynamic research shaping the design of the hull.”

The exoskeleton structure of the upper section is an interwoven network of supports that vary in thickness and lend a natural aesthetic to the yacht’s external appearance; evoking the organic structural systems of natural marine formations and connecting the various levels and decks of the ship seamlessly via expressive diagonals. Departing from traditional yacht design, the prototype’s exoskeleton “creates an intense connectivity between the various decks and elements of the design.” The 90m JAZZ yacht is the first of the five Unique Circle Yachts that has been technically specified and detailed by the naval architects at Blohm+Voss. CONDOMINIUM OWNERSHIP: THE PERFECT INVESTMENT We all know that foreign citizens cannot own land in Thailand. But many foreign investors nevertheless take the risk of circumventing legal restrictions on foreign ownership by forming a Thai company with local shareholders. Maintaining a Thai corporation, with annual tax returns and audits, can also prove to be expensive and time consuming.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN APARTMENTS AND LICENSED CONDOMINIUMS

Title Deeds:

In a licensed condominium, separate title deeds are issued by the Land Office for each condominium unit. In an apartment building, title deeds cannot be issued for each apartment, and apartments can only be leased and sub-leased.

Other foreign investors prefer to lease land under a 30 year lease -- plus a 30-year renewal term for a combination of 60 years. But long-term land leasing can also be problematic, particularly as Land Offices are reluctant to register the 30 year renewal term on the land title. Some government officials even demand gratuities before long-term land leases can be registered. In recent years,Thai courts have also rejected some of the standard lessee protections which are often included in long-term land lease agreements.

Common Area Ownership:

In a licensed condominium, the common areas and facilities are owned and controlled collectively by the condominium unit owners (through the Condominium Juristic Person). In an apartment building, the common areas and facilities are owned by the developer (who can charge the residents to use the common facilities and operate the building as a profit-making entity).

Condominium ownership avoids all these complications. Direct ownership of a condominium unit in a licensed condominium building is a perfectly safe investment for either a foreign citizen or a foreign corporation. Foreign ownership is fully protected under Thailand’s Condominium Act, wherein a maximum of 49% of the residential area in any licensed condominium project can be owned by foreign citizens (or foreign corporations).

Self-Governance:

Moreover, foreign ownership is legally perfected by registering the name of the foreign investor directly on the title deed as the owner of the condominium unit.

In a licensed condominium, the condominium budget and rules/regulations are adopted and revised by the management committee, which is elected by the condominium unit owners. In an apartment, the developer determines the rules/regulations unilaterally, establishes the annual budget (including the maintenance budget), and sets the annual maintenance fees (which can be increased at the developer’s discretion).

The land underlying a registered condominium is protected under the Condominium Act. The common areas and facilities are owned collectively by the condominium unit owners, and managed and maintained by the Condominium Juristic Person (a non-profit entity owned and controlled collectively by all the unit owners in the project). All condominium unit owners in the project are entitled to vote on the election of a management committee, which adopts the annual budget to finance the maintenance and repair of common areas and facilities.

Recent amendments to the Condominium Act are designed to provide added protections for consumers. For example, all advertisements and brochures concerning the condominium project are now deemed to be included in the condominium sale/purchase agreement. For condominium projects under construction, the sale/purchase agreement must also include a specific completion date with monetary penalties for late completion.

Thus, each licensed condominium is characterized by joint ownership and self-governance. Beware of apartment complexes which falsely present themselves as condominium projects, but which are not actually licensed under the Condominium Act. Koh Samui has many such apartments posing as licensed condominiums. But there are important differences between an apartment and a licensed condominium.

Foreign investors can also reduce investment risks by purchasing condominium units in completed condominium projects, rather than projects under construction. However, for those who prefer to purchase “on plan” before construction is completed, the developer’s prior “track record” of successfully completed projects should also be closely examined.

TAKING THE PLUNGE BENEATH THE WAVES WITH DUBAI’S LUXURY UNDERWATERVILLAS In what can only be described as a neighborhood of secret ocean lairs for James Bond supervillains just off the coast of Dubai, the real estate agency Kleindienst Group is constructing a series of lavish floating villas that it has nicknamed “floating seahorses.” The villas are a part of the company’s “Heart of Europe” development, a group of artificial islands modeled after European design and heritage. The villas have three levels—the main floor at sea-level, an upper deck, and a lower level completely submerged in water.The lower level consists of a master bedroom with floor-to-ceiling windows for a completely “uninterrupted” view of the ocean around you. It’s very cool in theory, but the reality of the aquarium views may be rather dark and murky—and it won’t exactly be easy to clean the outside of those windows.

The Floating Seahorse is “essentially a boat, not a villa,” according to Kleindienst. It’s a boat that doesn’t move, with a fully-fitted kitchen and a glass-bottomed jacuzzi on its sun deck. But sure, let’s call it a boat. A Kleindienst spokesperson tells Quartz that the homes are currently selling for 6.5 million AED ($1.8 million). Only 42 have been built, and 35 have already been sold.The project is scheduled to finish by the end of 2016, and the first tenants will move into their giant floating seahorses in 2017. The Heart of Europe is itself a section of “The World,” a man-made archipelago constructed in the shape of a globe four kilometers (2.5 miles) off the coast of Dubai.After a halt in construction following the 2008 financial crisis,The World appears to be up and running again, and The Heart of Europe is set to be its first finished project. But the floating seahorse villas are not just good news for Dubai’s ultra-rich. The developers say they’ll be creating some cushy accomodations for actual seahorses, an endangered species, too. “We will create an artificial coral reef beneath the luxury retreats,” said Kleindienst CEO Josef Kleindienst, in a press release.“[It] will be a protected area in which seahorses can safely live and breed.”

ida, chef Kip Oxman (formerly of Hemingway’s and Monsoon) presents what he calls “Nuevo Latino” (New Latin) cuisine at Azul. This new interpretation of Latin food borrows flavors from Cuba and other Spanish-speaking countries. Expect the likes of Peruvian scallop ceviche and Cuban sandwich, as well as chili con carne and hamburgers. The chef adds his own twists to certain dishes, including the use of crabmeat instead of red meat in the empanadas (stuffed pastries) and delicious duck ropa vieja (normally a stewed beef) served with poached egg on a grilled corn cake. Delish.

CHAR Be sure to head to the latest rooftop bar in town with

an empty stomach because it’s not just about the drinks here. Over on the grill they cook up some amazing local beef from French butcher Arnaud Carre—the guy behing Arno’s, one of the most respected food names in town. Char actually takes up the top two stories of the recently opened Hotel Indigo, with a stylish dining room downstairs and the rooftop bar up above to benefit from those amazing views across Bangkok’s “Embassy Row.”

nette,Toro made its name in the US cities of Boston and New York for Barcelona-inspired traditional and modern tapas dishes served in a chic and fun setting. Headed by chef Zach Watkins, the Bangkok outpost takes reference from the New York branch and adapts the food to suit local ingredients and palates. That means seared foie gras served with roselle sauce, shimeji mushroom and mangosteen, whle the hanger steak (filete a la plancha) comes with caramelized red onion and green curry butter. Other standout offerings include asado de huesos (bone marrow and oxtail marmalade with radish citrus salad and cocoa nib) and setas y huevo (San Sebastian-style wild mushrooms with wild herbs and farm egg,). riverside community mall comes fromt he same team who are behind the Thai fine dining restaurant Osha in town. Here though things are a little more laidback, with a space that blends contemporary design quirks with an easygoing attitude. The Thai dishes might sound familiar, but the food here is anything but plain, whether it’s a beautifully presented pad Thai or rich and decadent massaman cury. Don’t miss the mango sticky rice and young coconut ice cream for dessert.

MERUTO Here’s another Thai chef-driven omakase-only restaurant.

Meruto Sushi, the restaurant of self-trained chef-owner Kirati Butdeevong, started a bit over a year ago way out on Nuanchan Road and has now expanded to Sathorn. At any one time, the new place can accommodate only six diners, who get to watch the chef making sushi from the best possible seasonal ingredients, delivered every other day. One of his highlight creations is fresh oyster from Hiroshima, served with house-cured ponzu and grilled gindara on a bed of Japanese seaweed. A meal sets you back B3,500 for 12 items and B5,500 for 15 items, excluding appetizer and dessert.The original branch is now on pause and will resume operations when its sister venue is settled. One-week advance reservations are recommended.

“ONE BILLION YUAN LUXURY HOME” A newly built garden home in Suzhou, China, has just hit the market with an asking price of only 1 billion Chinese yuan, an equivalent of a measley $154 million, setting a new price record in China. “It is so far the highest luxury listing we have in China,” Jim Hao, vice chairman of Beijing Sotheby’s International Realty, which handles the marketing of the property, said with a suspiciously charming smile. A search of news reports shows that it is the most expensive home in mainland China to ever hit the market by some distance. Other luxury homes that came remotely close were previously listed or sold for half the price (not counting a Hong Kong estate that was sold in recent weeks for about $270 million). The Suzhou garden home, marketed as “Taohuayuan,” meaning “Utopia” but translating literally to “Peach Blossom Land,” sits on a private island on the south shore of Suzhou’s Dushu Lake, China’s biggest lake no less. It has a total of 32 bedrooms and 32 bathrooms, with all the bedrooms facing south, desired by many for optimal natural light and optimal market value.

The listing first appeared on June 6. Sotheby’s has started recently marketing the property as the “One Billion Yuan Luxury Home” in an incredibly imaginative reference to the asking price. Private gardens in Suzhou have been recognized as World Cultural Heritage sites, which adds value to the property, although possibly not the value of half a billion yuan. In recent years, the garden-style homes have been sought after by top collectors, according to developer Sunac China Holdings Limited as they rubbed their hands with delight. It took Sunac China about three years to build this particular home. It commissioned Xiangshanbang Traditional Architectural and Building Skills to handcraft all the bricks and plants. The craftsmen have manifested their artistic conception of Taohuayuan with the essence of East Asian gardens at its core, and created a space worthy of the highest recognition in contemporary landscaping, internationally. And apparently it’s worked. “There are quite a few overseas clients who have showed their interests in this unique property,” said listing agent Juan Zhao Feng with a twitch. None of them have bought it yet, but quite a few have showed interest!

Moving gradually from folk and chamber music to emotional electronic pop over four albums, she’s been able to carve out an uncompromising niche for herself While not as musically stunning as her last two records (2009’s Two Suns and 2012’s The Haunted Man, both excellent benchmarks for her brand of self-contained yet grandiose songwriting), The Bride may be Bat for Lashes’ most ambitious project yet, a true concept album, every song tightly woven into a through narrative from start to finish.

BLINK 182 Blink-182’s seventh album wants to be a pop-punk eminence album, evidence humbly submitted that this aging pack of skater brats is still young, selectively dumb, and full of commiserating angst. Whether they meant to or not, Blink-182 paved the way for a new version of pop punk. Acts who wanted to emphasize the uplifting melodies of pop while yelling about life’s frustrations had a stencil they could follow — so the Joyce Manors and Modern Baseballs and All Time Lows did. Blink-182 perfected a new style, but singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge couldn’t seem to take it seriously anymore. Now that he quit and Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba has replaced him, Blink-182 are back on the melodic pop punk train, but it’s rife with setbacks: stale jokes, over-produced harmonies, half-baked lyrics. It’s easy to fault California for that, but if nothing else, their first album in five years shows older Blink-182 heading where older Blink-182 were meant to go. The fact that they were able to produce something salvageable comes as a pleasant, though shaky surprise. 2.5/5

CHEETAH APHEX TWIN It’s either feast or famine in Aphexland. This electronica maestro will be silent for a decade, then all of a sudden he’s back, flying a lime-green blimp over the Thames, firing out official new releases under a variety of pseudonyms and dumping the contents of his hard drive on Soundcloud for the whole world to peruse. ‘Cheetah’ is Richard D James’s third release on Warp Records in the last couple of years. Following 2014’s miraculous ‘Syro’, at seven tracks and 34 minutes, ‘Cheetah’ is a laid-back, somewhat pensive collection that remains firmly in the category of what people used to call ‘intelligent dance music’, powered by languid electronic beats and those gauzy synth melodies that Aphex has traditionally done so well. You could tell from one listen to ‘Syro’ that it was Aphex, back and on form. ‘Cheetah’ isn’t bad, but it could be the work of lesser producer. In this respect at least, Aphex Twin remains an enigma. After all, you don’t come out of retirement to be ordinary. 3/5

Putting together a single-disc compilation from Prince must have been a tough task, but whoever put this together did a great job. 17 of the R&B/Pop icon’s best including ‘When Doves Cry’, ‘Little Red Corvette’, ‘Kiss’, ‘I Would Die For You’ and many others. For the full and part-time fan, this is like a trip down memory lane, but for the beginner, this is the best path to take. Taken literally, the title is sure to cause endless arguments. Nothing from Dirty Mind, not a trace of the early anthem “Controversy,” no “Erotic City” - no non-LP cuts at all, save some edited single versions - and a cold shoulder to the criminally outof-print Gold Experience. Damn. As a compendium of 17 key A-sides from 1979 to 1992, however, The Very Best of Prince is (ahem) a quick-’n’-dirty review of The Artist, blessed with both creative cunning and the wish to reach every listener possible. Though a fine party artifact, this disc is still likely to prove too scanty even for many casual Prince fans 4/5 Arriving in Southeast Asia over ten years ago, Jayemmcee is a part-time, amateur music historian and full time music lover of the highest order.
