Luis R. Torres Cotto Prof. Nilsa Lugo EDPE 4018 – 001 Weekly Reflection #11 27-31 of October, 2014 This week was a good week for me and I enjoyed every second of it. Starting on Monday, I had my second Practice supervisor visit. I was prepared for my class and finally the new topic, farm animals. I started by playing the class favorite game "Simon Says" we played a little bit and then the students sat down in their chairs. One by one I called the students and placed them on the rug in the floor, there after I showed them the story "Quick as a Cricket" and read it together. The class was overhyped by the book and we took time to read it and look at the pictures. We did animal noises and emulated the verb actions words of the story. We did not finish reading it due to a short time and finally we said goodbye. The class went out of control at times because they had trouble behaving in the rug but we pushed through. On Tuesday, for the first time, we sang the "Old McDonald song as an opening activity. The students really enjoyed the video and integration of technology in class. Finally they began learning the farm animals pictures and sounds together. We practiced their names and their sounds. On the class of Wednesday we did a review of yesterdays class and an activity handout with farm animals. Thursday was a very special day, I had my first Road Trip as a teacher. I was very excited, it was with the sixth and second grade. I felt very responsible for them also. This day was a great bonding experience with those students and I learned a lot from them. Friday was a back to normal day. We performed some activities about farm animals such as the old McDonald song and an activity handout.

University of Puerto Rico – Humacao English Department I believe that as a practice teacher I'm progressing each time more and more. The activities done and the song performed are hitting home with the groups. Nonetheless I still need to work a lot more with their behavior control, I need to be firm even thought they are small students. Aside from that, the field trip was an excellent experience. I enjoyed being with the group and going outside the classroom. On the other hand I was very scared since I had a lot of responsibility as a teacher. The semester is ending and I feel I'm still stuck and don't seem to progress much. I have my ups and down and still need to work on my skills. I feel very disappointed with myself because, even though things are seemingly better, I know I haven't progressed. This weights heavily down on me and my role but I will take the good amazing moments and all the knowledge and make it better next time.. I know that I will succeed little by little, Rome wasn't built in a day.
