I often think about being a photographer and what it is that I love so much about photographing weddings. Every time I think about it, I end up thinking about two things. The first is how lucky I am to be living my dream and to be doing what I love. My second thought goes back to the beginning; I start thinking about the artists that inspired me to become the artist I am today. The artist I first fell in love with was Frida Kahlo, a Mexican painter. I can’t remember when I first started looking at her work, but I do remember being in my fifth grade art class, telling the other kids about her. Her works are quite mature for a fifth grader to appreciate, but I inexplicably loved them. I was (and still am) drawn to her expression of emotion, her pain, and her self discovery. Out of her 143 paintings, 55 of them were self-portraits. Through the continuous exploration of her feelings, culture, and her life we are now able to look at her work and know quite a lot about the events of her life, and also how she felt during those events. The espression is so vivid — and looking at these paintings made me realize how much can be said with an image. I studied all types of art in university and I always longed to be able to express the emotion like she did in any medium. The other artist I find most inspiring is Sally Mann, an American photographer best known for her images of her own family and children. I find that both Frida Kahlo and Sally Mann are able to express emotion and human relation so beautifully. Sally Mann once said, “Photographs open doors into the past, but they also allow a look into the future.” I never decided to be an artist, it was something that I was born knowing I was going to be. If I had a choice I may have chosen something different, something more “practical”. Even when I was five years old, I took art classes very seriously, and honestly always knew I was going to be an artist. What I didn’t know was how my art would develop and how I would eventually use it to enrich the lives of others. When I was working toward my degree in Fine Arts, a friend asked me to photograph her wedding. It was an honour, but I was terrified. Up until then, my art — like Frida Kahlo’s — had been all about self discovery and was mostly self portraits. I photographed her wedding, and was surprised to find that I loved it. I am a wedding photographer because I love photographing weddings, and because I couldn’t do anything else, even if I wanted to.

Engagement Session: The engagement session marks and celebrates your commitment to each other and your decision to marry. The engagement session is when we first get to step in and narrate your love story. Throughout this session, our focus will be your bond, your relationship, your respect for one another. In short, this session is all about you. It’s also a chance to take photos in a creative, fun and relaxed atmosphere, which allows us to bond before before your wedding and other photo sessions. The finished product is a revealing reflection of you as a couple. Our engagement portraits are often used for Save-the-Date cards, favors, slideshows at your wedding and guest books.

Haute Boudoir: Breathtaking, classy and fashionable, our boudoir sessions are artfully done from a woman’s point of view. Feeling beautful and special is important, and the outcome of these sessions are art pieces you can be proud of and want to share with your spouse. Photo Booth: We honestly can not think of a better way to get a portrait of the guests at your wedding. The photo booth is a fun, care-free, entertaining and memorable. We bring the backdrop, some props, and lights, and set up for the hour between your first dance and your cake cutting or bouquet toss. The only problem? It’s so much fun, it makes the night go by too quickly!

FAQs: Do you travel for weddings? We are happy to do weddings all over Canada and the globe. For single-photographer packages, travel fees are waived for weddings in Montréal and Winnipeg. Can I still get some traditional shots? Yes! We call these shots “bread and butter” — and you can’t live without bread and butter. We do traditional portraiture at all of our weddings. Even the most modern bride still wants the heirlooms that family portraiture provides, and we are well aware of grandparents or parents wanting traditional portraits. Do you shoot with Film or Digital? We are 100% digital. We use only high-end, professional equipment, for the best results imagineable. When we shoot, we not only shoot for the moment, but we have a clear vision of what the finished image will look like. Can you customize a collection specifically for me? Yes! We provide a broad array of photographic options, and will customize a collection based around your requests. I’m a shoe girl and I’m going to have awesome shoes for my wedding. I hear you’re the photographer for me, is that true? Absolutely — I’m a shoe fanatic and proud of it!
