N UH
BEARLON UH (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene) is a premium virgin grade polyethylene which is used extensively in commercial and industrial applications. It has a molecular weight of 4,500,000g/mol, and has improved wear and abrasion resistance, combined with outstanding impact strength, even at temperatures below -200°C. BEARLON UH has excellent chemical resistance, low moisture absorption, a low co-efficient of friction and superior anti-stick properties. It is often used in high-wear applications, from wear strips under conveyors to guide rails in bottling plants or scraper blades on road rollers.
benefits Outstanding impact strength Improved abrasion resistance Low co-efficient of friction Poor UV resistance Superior anti-stick properties Good chemical resistance
Larger BEARLON UH sheets are used for lining bulk storage hoppers where low friction, anti-stick and abrasion-resistant properties solve feed and wear problems. Sheets are available with planed or unplaned surfaces. Extruded profiles and wear strips have applications in the materials-handling industry, and BEARLON UH is also available in self-adhesive tapes. Temperature range: -269ºC to +70ºC.
Note Some sizes, lengths, or profiles may be subject to minimum order quantities or are available on indent only. They may be subject to special conditions.

The general engineering field uses two basic types of nylon and, whilst their physical properties are broadly similar, individual differences will affect their end use. BEARLON 6, in both cast and extruded grades, offers the optimum combination of mechanical strength, toughness, damping properties and wear resistance. Its electrical properties and good chemical resistance make it the general purpose grade for most mechanical, construction and maintenance applications. BEARLON 66 has a higher mechanical strength, stiffness and toughness than extruded BEARLON 6, although the unmodified cast BEARLON 6 grade shows similar characteristics. BEARLON 66 has better heat, wear and creep resistance, but impact strength and mechanical damping ability are less. It has superior machining qualities and is well-suited to automatic lathes. Temperature range: Bearlon 6 -40°C to +100°C (-40°C to +70°C in water) Bearlon 66 -30°C to +100°C (-40°C to +70°C in water)

BEARL N LF BEARLON LF is a greenish-coloured, oil-filled cast BEARLON 6 nylon which is totally self-lubricating. This internal lubrication has been especially developed for use in applications that rely on unlubricated, highlyloaded and slow-moving components, with the result that BEARLON LF has considerably enlarged the application possibilities of standard cast nylons. Because of its self-lubricating properties, BEARLON LF exhibits a co-efficient of friction that is 50% less than standard cast nylons, and has a wear resistance that is up to 10 times greater.
The food grade, oil-lubricated version of BEARLON LF combines superior bearing properties with an FDAapproved formulation (21CFR, section 177.5 and others) for food processing applications. Continuous oil lubrication, built right into the nylon, means reduced friction, higher operating speeds and no need for external lubrication. BEARLON LF retains the other physical properties which make cast nylons so effective in many applications. It has good mechanical strength, creep resistance over a wide temperature range, excellent sliding and machining properties and dimensional stability. N GSM
BEARLON GSM is nylon which is stiffer, harder and dimensionally more stable than unmodified nylon. The addition of MoS 2 (molybdenum disulphide) creates a strong crystalline structure which enhances bearing and wear behaviour, without impairing the inherent impact and fatigue resistance of cast nylon. BEARLON GSM is self-lubricating, quiet in operation, and its lightness contributes to low inertia, which is often a factor under stop/start conditions. It is easily machined, has good load-bearing capabilities and its low co-efficient of friction makes it ideal for many bearing applications. BEARLON C is a hard engineering plastic derived from the polymerization of formaldehyde. It is highly suitable for automatic machining and precision mechanical parts. It exhibits high tensile strength, hardness and impact resistance. The low moisture absorption of BEARLON C gives excellent dimensional stability for close tolerance parts, such as bearings and gears. BEARLON C is a copolymer acetal and, compared to a homopolymer, is more resistant to hydrolysis, strong alkalis and thermo-oxidative degradation; but has slightly lower mechanical strength, stiffness, hardness and creep resistance. BEARLON C is widely used in mechanical components and electrical insulators where exceptional strength is required for above-average temperatures or moisture levels. It is FDA approved and can be used in contact with food, especially in liquid environments. BEARLON C is available in natural or black in a range of rods and sheets. PILLOW BLOCK INSERTS Bearlon manufactures an extensive range of thermoplastic inserts for cast iron bearing housings. These bearings are easily fitted, self-aligning and are typically used where bearing loads and speeds are relatively low, allowing them to often run completely unlubricated. Pillow Block inserts are generally moulded in UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular-weight polyethylene), making them ideal for use in watery environments and food applications. All inserts are pilot-bored or can be machined to specific size on request. Both metric and imperial sizes are avaialble.

Himould速 CONVEYOR ROLLER END CAPS A superior nylon-6 material impregnated with molybdenum disulphide (MoS2) is used in the manufacture of Himould速 end caps. This combination helps to lower friction, resulting in less wear and added self-lubricating properties, making them ideal for applications where roller lubrication is intermittent. Himould速 conveyor roller end caps are designed to be a push-fit into the tube, with running clearance built into the bore.

X-Lube® BUSHES X-Lube® bushes are designed to provide an extremely cost-effective alternative to traditional metal bearings. These plastic bushes are moulded to the highest quality standards and are available throughout Australasia. X-Lube® bushes use a superior nylon-6 material impregnated with molybdenum disulphide (MoS2). This additive lowers friction which helps to reduce the need for lubrication and increases the life of the bush. These bushes have generally been designed with an interference fit on the OD to allow for a good push-fit into the housing. An additional clearance has also been allowed in the ID so that when the bush is installed, it will have the correct clearances for most applications. If in doubt about the correct fitting and clearances of X-Lube® bushes, contact your nearest BSC branch. Other factors such as temperature variation, moisture absorption and bearing speed may mean additional clearance is necessary. X-Lube® bushes are available in plain (P) or shouldered (S) configuration and are normally moulded in MoS2 filled nylon-6. However, other materials such as acetal can be supplied for specific applications, although minimum order quantities may apply. X-Lube® bushes are produced from special tooling. This tooling is cost-effective and ideal for production of bushes for special requirements.

LEXAN® POLYCARBONATE SHEETS LEXAN® polycarbonate is transparent with high light permeability and has minimal water absorption, which allows it to remain dimensionally stable even in extremely damp conditions. It is also physiologically inert and suitable for use in the food sector. LEXAN® polycarbonate is a hard and dimensionally rigid plastic, but exhibits remarkable impact strength and flexibility in contrast to many other thermoplastics, and its mechanical properties are only slightly influenced by temperature fluctuations. It is a virtually unbreakable material.
even in temperatures as low as –60°C. It can be heat or cold-formed and is solvent-cementable (methylene chloride). It is also non-toxic, odourless and tasteless. The weather resistance and insulating capacity of LEXAN® polycarbonate, which are not influenced by temperature or moisture, are important characteristics. In conjunction with its good thermal and mechanical properties, they allow LEXAN® polycarbonate to be the material of choice in many practical applications. Temperature range: -60°C to +120°C
LEXAN® polycarbonate is self-extinguishing and flame resistant, and retains its physical properties Note Some sizes or lengths may be subject to minimum order quantities or are available on indent only. They may be subject to special conditions.
