INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING
WHEN DISASSEMBLING OR ASSEMBLING CHAINS: WARNING - The components of a chain are hardened parts. Striking these parts may cause metal chips to break off the chain or the tools used resulting in personal injury. During all stages of chain disassembly and assembly, wear safety glasses to prevent metal parts or chips from entering your eyes and have personnel in the immediate area to do likewise.
PIN REMOVAL 1) If chain is of cotterpin-type construction, remove cotters. 2) If chain is riveted-type construction, grind pin heads off so pin ends are flush with the linkplate. 3) Drive pins out of linkplate using a Diamond Pin Extractor. Some multiple strand chains will require a hammer and punch or a press to remove the pins.
After the cover-sides have been installed, install the spring clips or cotters (depending on chain design). Avoid using bent or worn cotters or spring clips. After the spring clips (or cotters) are installed, lightly tap pin ends to position these parts snug against the cover-side for additional support.
Scan the QR code for additional information on the installation and maintenance of roller chain.
Chains will break if misused or abused. Serious injury or property damage can result.
Select, install, guard and maintain chain in accordance with equipment manufacturer and Diamond Chain Company’s recommendations.

WHEN INSTALLING CHAIN DRIVES ON EQUIPMENT: WARNING - You may be seriiously injured if you attempt to install chain on equipment under power. Shut off power and lock out gears and sprockets before attempting installation. Once installed, the chain drive must be guarded to prevent personal injury or property damage in the event the chain separates during operation. If chain drive is not guarded, contact equipment manufacturer for recommendations on guarding before using equipment. Knowing more about how the chain is constructed may help in assembly and disassembly. Further information may be obtained by calling or writing Diamond Chain Company.

Diamond Chain Today’s competitive business environment is demanding. While departmental objectives may appear to conflict at times, employees, managers and decision makers are really all looking for the same results – improvements in productivity and increases in profitability.
Diamond Chain Accelerated Wear Testing The following charts compare the accelerated wear testing of Diamond Chain products versus those of several leading global chain manufacturers from Asia, Europe, and North America.
These tests were performed by Diamond Chain using testing protocols and methodology that were reviewed, verified, and approved by an independent third party.
Why Inexpensive Chain Will Cost You More in the Long Run When purchasing roller chain, it’s tempting to consider low-priced product options. Most look to balance price and performance, but making a decision based heavily on purchase price is rarely the best option. The small, short term savings that are gained up front typically end up costing significantly more over the life of the product. Acquisition, or direct cost, is only the tip of the expenditures iceberg. In the illustration below, purchasing the low price product instead of the Diamond roller chain means an upfront savings of $150. What is not being taken into account are the additional expenses that will be incurred when the low priced chain fails prematurely.
Total Cost of Ownership Rather than looking at just product acquisition cost, purchase decisions should instead take into account the Total Cost of Ownership. In this example, third party test results show that it would take three low priced chains to meet the equivalent run time of one Diamond chain. In addition to having to purchase and install the three low priced roller chains to meet the performance of a single Diamond series chain, a Total Cost of Ownership analysis would also capture additional expenses such as production downtime, idle labor, and scrap, costs which easily outweigh the smaller initial savings. The result is that an upfront savings of $150, instead turns into an additional $4,180 in long term expenses.
