Roath Brook Trees Fundraiser
Lynne Cartlidge RCA
There are many artists living and working around Penylan. Perhaps, like me, these artists are drawn by the beauty and balance of the brook and its surrounding trees. This habitat survives the farmlands and mill that existed here until the early 1900s. These paintings were created in-situ, in late Summer and early Autumn of 2016 before the work on the flood defences that threaten the trees began. I chose each view in the moment, based on the light coming through the trees. Each painting captures my experience of different trees, many of which are directly threatened by the proposed works and a few of which have already been lost. I have donated these paintings to support the Roath Brook Save Our Trees Campaign and 100% of all the proceeds from their sale by auction will go to the campaign.
