When approaching this project I asked myself: “How could I possibly transform a boring black pen into something precious and desirable?” The idea was to simply dip the pen into liquid gold. But by doing so, one has to hold the pen on one end, which is why the gold doesn’t cover its entire surface. The final design, rather than being another golden status symbol, literally represents the action of transformation, if not to say the alchemy. - Robert Stadler
