College is not just about earning a degree; it’s about graduating with the knowledge and skills necessary for life-long success in the 21st century. At Lyon College, students can pursue 16 majors and 21 minors in the liberal arts and sciences as well as individualized majors and pre-professional programs in education, law, medicine, physical therapy, and more. Students interact closely with award-winning faculty, with no classes taught by graduate assistants. Ninety-nine percent of Lyon professors hold the highest degree in their ďŹ eld, with many earning their degrees at some of the most prestigious schools in the nation. Lyon provides an exceptional education through both its curricular and co-curricular offerings, staying true to its mission of fostering critical, creative thought and ethical, spiritual growth that prepares students for fulďŹ lling lives committed to lifelong learning and service.

College is not just about earning a degree.

What is a liberal arts education? It has nothing to do with political leanings or majoring in art. A liberal arts education instead refers to gaining the knowledge you will need to navigate the rest of your life. While it can prepare you for entering a career immediately after graduation, it is much, much more than that. Instead of a narrow curriculum focused on the job you currently think you want, a liberal arts education exposes you to the arts, humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and natural sciences. It teaches you how to learn, how to evaluate arguments and experiences, how to enrich your life. Lyon grads prepare for and have careers as lawyers, doctors, teachers, and more—but they also major in ďŹ elds that have no direct, obvious connection to where their interests and talents lead them: a science major may become a minister, a theatre major an attorney, an English major a real estate manager. Did you know that one third of Fortune 500 CEOs have liberal arts degrees? Learn where your liberal arts education can take you at lyon.edu.

From the start of my college search, I knew I would thrive in a small, private college. At Lyon, I found a College that felt like home— it’s small enough to get the one-on-one education I was looking for and big enough to push me
