DESIGN CONCEPT The area of old q uarries has a great recreational potential due to its location and morphology. The design should make the q uarries accessible and connected in the way whic h won’t destroy the natural environment and genius loci of the place. The red walkway line creates access to the q uarr y floors and interconnects both q uarries. The dr y q uarr y is rather intended for q uiet, passive recreation among the mighty roc ks. The flooded q uarr y is rather intended for active recreation and sports.

CONCEPT OF THE SOUTHERN BANK The elevated concrete walkway provides fluent connection between the urban area and the natural area. It starts at the end of the pedestrian bridge and ends by the gate to the nature reser ve Holednå. The shape of the walkway was inspired by meandering river. The walkway is followed by a metal line - memorial of a Czec h poet Vitězslav Nezval. He wrote a poem about the river Svratka called On the bank of river Svratka. Verses of this poem are written on the metal line.

CONCEPT OF THE NORTHERN BANK One of the main goals is to make the river bank accessibl e by creating roads and path to separate different kinds of traffic - pedestrians, cyclists, cars. The bank becomes a new part of urban green structure - promenade along the river - where people can walk , sit and rest by the river. There are a few spots where people can directly interact with the river. At the spot with concrete stairs, where boats are c hained to the bank , one can take a boat, row around the pole in the river, then stop rowing and stay anc hored in the middle of river. At anothe r spot with concrete stairs there is a periscope to obser ve the under water life.

DESIGN CONCEPT One of the main problems of the town is dominance of traffic over other functions. Urban structure of the town is disturbed, lac king understandable and logically interconnected urban spaces with local identity.
PHASe 01
One of the main goals of this study is to complete the urban structure of the town, to create logical, organized and functional network of public spaces and to reorganize the traffic. Reconstruction of the central part of the town is divided into several phases. Traffic is gradually diverted from the centre of the town. Individual public spaces are gradually reconstructed and the urban structure is being renewed.
