At Black Swamp Conservancy...
What began 25 years ago as a dedicated group of volunteers meeting around a kitchen table has grown into today’s Black Swamp Conservancy. We were established to protect the important lands and water resources of northwest Ohio. Today we continue that mission, but are also focused on restoring the streams and wetlands that help protect our water supply and provide critical wildlife habitat.
The Conservancy now permanently protects more than 17,000 acres of land, and has helped to create 18 public parks and nature preserves in northwest Ohio. We are currently planning three new habitat restoration projects across the region. And we are working to launch an ambitious new program to protect the watershed while also providing farm access to new and aspiring farmers for growing local food.
The Conservancy relies on the support of landowners, donors and partnerships with other conservation organizations. We strive to be a wise investment for our supporters, whether they are giving us their land, time or money.
