R
equirement: The main function of the Foshan exhibition center is to serve as main sell center for the apartment buildings on the adjacent site. Afterwards this will become a part exhibition, part club house for the same residential units, consisting in entertaining spaces, tennis court, swimming pool, cafe, leisure areas.
B
rief: Given the special triangular shape of the site, we were given little flexibility, so the distribution of spaces were mainly directed towards the inner green space, while the outer side is more monolitic, enclosed, and separated by the road. There is a strict delimitation between the public and private spaces. While the main exhibition space is in direct visual connection with the acces on site, the rest of the areas are developing gradually. The aim of the design was to present the space in layers, as a constant surprise, a matrix of closed and opened, build and natural, courtyards with water features, leisure areas, small meditating points creating a space for internal peace. The scattered blocks filter the perspective and maximize the integration of the natural features.

KINDERGARTEN Minhang, Shanghai 2016
R
equirement: The site is located in Shanghai, Minhang District. From the beginning of the analysis we could tell the site imposes some limitations, firstly because it is situated next to an electric plant, and secondly because of the L shape. More than half of the site has to be kept unbuilt due to the high voltage cables that cross over it. We preferred to keep it as a green buffering zone. Furthermore this newly green space can’t be used as a playground either, due to obvious hazards.
B
rief: When it comes to the program requirements we’ve been asked to provide a masterplan for a kindergarten, playgrounds, lofts for the teachers and administration offices. In order to fulfill all these requirements on such a restricted site, my first solution was to propose individual playgrounds on the roof tops of the kindergarten, thus maximizing the green space area. The second most important requirement to fulfill was that all 12 classrooms should be oriented towards the south side, thus the 2 kindergarten arms, opened towards the south side, receiving all the natural light and enclosing the playground area in between, as a warm mother’s hug.

equirement: Concept proposal for a mixed use building consisting in a 5 star hotel, office building and conference center. • Office - aprox. 50000 square meters • 5 star hotel - 30000 square meters - guest rooms - 2000 square meters - restaurants - 800 square meters - services • Conference center - 1000 square meters
B
rief: The site is located in proximity of Luoyang city center, bordered by KaiYuan Bld. and Yalong River, on the main artery that links the city center and the airport. I proposed a continuous monolithic building that will accommodate the requested functions, but without interfeering with one another during operations. All three programmes can function independently, having their own designated accesses for cars and pedestrians, but keeping the central green park as a common space for interaction. Secondly the views towards the city district were what defined the shape of the building. with sharp cuts and viewing platforms for the conference center and hotel, green rooftops and full height lobbies to mark each main entrance.

equirement: This site is located relatively near the Guangzhou International Airport, thus dividing it in 2 very distinct hight limitations. The requirement was to propose part office buildings, part 600 sqm villas to be rented as small offices, and part residential buildings, very diverse functions with their own limitations on a relatively small site.
B
rief: Because of the hight limits, and considering the main acceses on the site, as well as the sun analysis, we come up with many types of masterplans, from which we chose this one that would solve the client's requests and responded to the local norms and regulations. Beside taking part in the initial phase of urban planning and analysis, I continued to develop the central part of the masterplan, from covering the required GFA, to making different proposal for the villa architecture and facades, to proposing layouts & landscape options. I have tried to create multiple courtyards, and to group the villas in such way in order to have as much green space and in the same time layers of private & public spaces interconnected in what seems a maze at the first glance, yet keeps a logical circulation flow for cars & pedestrians.

estrictions: The site is located in the proximity of an airport, so half of it falls under different urban regulation, meaning the height limit would be of 24m on the west side and 62 an the east. Furthermore we had to take into consideration the risk of the buildings shadowing eachother and also the proximity with the exhibition center. In conclusion we came up with many simple massing models to meet these requirements firstly, to pick the one that suited best our program theme.

equirement: This kindergarten is plan of a bigger residential development in Luoyang, Henan Province. We had to propose a 12 classrooms of about 90 sqm each, art space, administration, kitchen and playgrounds for all 12 classrooms.
B
rief: The first challenge and the ones that basically set the shape for our design was the small site we had to occupy, for a pretty big kindergarten. After drafting many options and as well taking into account the natural light for each classroom we came up with a concept of layered spaces, classrooms and playrooms, using all the space we could, meaning moving playgrounds on rooftops, in order to satisfy the requirements. The second challenge had to do with more technical matters like fire protection and responding to norms and regulations for this specific function.
M
y role: Including the SD phase I was in charge of solving the functional requirements, being in contact constantly with the technical department regarding Chinese norms and regulation and fire protection. My work consisted in 3d modeling, functional analysis, plans, diagrams, presentation.

R
equirement: This is still an ongoing project due to it’s complexity. Located in Qingdao, Laoshan Scenic Area we have been asked to develop a mixed use urban area, consisting of mainly residential, commercial & services for the community involved in Goertek Research Center. rief: The aim of our design consisted in designing a sustainable neighbourhood that will support healthy living. We proposed a self sufficient community for the Goertek employees, focusing on easy pedestrian access, diverse use, open space for leisure activities, heat island effect mitigation and energy efficient quality housing. With this scope in mind, the site is organized in such a way based on the 24h worklife balance and the people flow from the adjacent offices to services (restaurants, coffes shops) and home. There is a big emphasis in green space and green roofs in order to limit the sun gain and also in order to create a very welcoming urban space. The surrounding hills will host a park for leisure activities, with viewing points towards the city, bike and pedestrian trails, while the other will have farms and urban gardens that will produce locally grown food all year around.

equirement: A new area for Taiyuan city, in direct connection with the city center and Jinyang Lake. This will include residential area, offices and retail. rief: The base is located within the region of the north part of Jinyang Lake Scenic Zone, which is in the southwest of Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, with very pronounced commercial atmosphere and unlimited potential. Jinyang Lake is the largest artificial lake in North China and the scenery there can be comparable with the West Lake in Hangzhou. the scenic zone, there are Taiyuan Thermal Power Plant, the scenic spots and historical sites of Jin Temple. The environment is exquisite with beautiful scene. The project area is placed along an imaginary axis connecting the lake and the town’s cultural center. These are the two main attraction poles, one being the natural environment, whereas the other is the urban center and leisure space. The prerogative of the project is to create an axis to unify these two systems, creating a major public space in between.

This continuously built space, highlights the central green spine, which is the most important part, that hosts also most of the commercial, offices, bars, restaurants and hotels. equirement: This was part of my internship program at AIDICO
rief: Easy to build homes made from shipping containers. It´s an economic , not to say ecological solution that can be used in all sort of situations. It started as a task to create a concept home for refugees. Then was developed in various projects in which I proposed robust and resistant shelters, built from recyclable materials and with the ability of beeing reused, easily transported and stored. They can be installed and moved on different surfaces. They solve the need of space in record time. The main wish was to be able to reconfigure the standard shipping container in such way, that once of a site, can be opened and can be grouped in different ways in order to create entire communities.

1900 BEER FACTORY ADAPTIVE REUSE & EXTENSION Cluj Romania - 2011 Excerpt from my final year master thesis.
B
rief: The intervention was based on the concept of ”passepartout”, highlighting the existing building, creating a wall to display and emphasize the old facade similary to a photography, yet trying to create analogy relationships between old and new, aiming to find a way to reinterpret the old building into a harmonious connections. The idea was to introduce a distinctive new architecture, that looks for its grounds in the experience of the existing. Speaking of function, the project was created around the old beer house, converted in a beer museum , wich remains as the central point of the composition and a system of public spaces which can be used by the whole community, both of this elements working together to create a nucleus that will help developing the whole area around. Taking into account the position of the site in the city, the urban functions in direct connection with it and the developement politics I thought that the extension should be a hotel. The intervention was dictaded by the need of configurating the Romana Square and the idea of closing the perspective to the industrial site nearby. The aim of this intervention was to create an important point in the city like a ”seed” planted for its future developement as well as regaining an important part of community identity.

DALI GUESTHOUSE Dali, China 2016
R
equirement: This is a 4 (3 stories+basement) stories house, located in Dali, Yunan province. The construction is fairy new, finised just around 2015. From the begining the client had a very specific request: a yoga retreat/guesthouse for her and her friends, with 1st floor being a gathering area/reception, 2nd and 3rd floor will function as private in suite rooms, while the basement will be transfomed into a yoga practice studio, massage area all in direct connection with the garden.
B
rief: This was one of my favorite projects, because on one hand I had enough freedom to choose the design approach, on the other hand the client’s requests were pretty specific, which made my work easier. I got inspired by Dali’s simple architecture, local materials (very few options to choose from also), and natural landscape. After creating a mood board with main materials I went on developing a minimalistic design, using a lot of natural wood, local stone, and water features, all natural elements found in Dali’s beautiful landscape. From the begining I wanted a clean, minimal interior while keeping the space bright, and bringing lots of natural elements inside to enhance the space.
