Home Alone

Maddy

I’m Home alone, sitting on the desk, studying for my upcoming HSC exam. Stressed, frustrated and in the zone, my notes sitting on my desk, staring at me. More than 30 pages needed to be learnt, 20 down, 10 to go. Brain Freeze! Suddenly, a haunting creek, ignoring it, I continued to study. An echo filled pause. I hear it again, closer; it is right behind me, like air rushing down a tunnel. Panicking, I turn around, I see a man in black, his mask covers his face, gazing at me through the door. Too late to reach the phone; too late to move; too late to escape. Frozen with fear... “Who are you?”

Ambushed My cover blown Have to act fast Quick and sly as a fox I approach the unsuspecting brat Her eyes filled with fear Body tense and vulnerable She turns and stands “Who are you?” Silence “Who are you?” Bitter, deafening silence fills the room I step, close and closer to the girl in absolute terror her hands shake and eyes fixed on my face But she cannot see My face, masked in black Without a word I reach around the neck of the girl paralysed with fear Lock secured, bomb attached A plan in place Placing a note on the desk I turn one last time to see the brilliant terror screaming from her face And I leave to watch the events unfold.

Psycho

Reaction

Maddy

I haven’t moved a muscle, scared and freaking out, not knowing what to do. “Should I call 000?” Maybe the bomb will explode, maybe it’s a fake, maybe I’m about to die. I need help, I need comfort, I need family, I need lady luck. Sitting and crying, I see a picture of my mum, and the tears flow freely, wondering if that was the last time I saw my mother. I need to stay positive, not losing faith, gathering my strength, I make my decision, not knowing if it is the right one! Anxious and afraid, as sick as a dog, confronted and confused, lonely and lost, I dial 000!

The call

Mum

She should have called me by now. But she hasn’t. What if something happened? No, I shouldn’t be thinking like that. Maddy is a smart girl, She knows how to take care of herself. But I can’t stop worrying. I’m her mother; it’s my job to worry. I call her for the seventh time. No answer. For once I don’t know what to do. A mixture of emotions course through me, Worry, concern, regret, worry, anger, worry. My office phone rings. For a minute, I feel relief. Her mobile must have just run out of battery or something. “Hello?” I answer. “Mrs. Pulver? This is the police.”

House Call

Police

We heard all about the girls’ situation. Could it be a hoax? I guess we will find out we ran up the polished porch we knocked on the door no answer. Knocked one more time, no answer. and just like that we kicked down the door splinters flying everywhere but there was no time to look at the damage we were in action mode then we heard a scream in an instant we were all over the house looking for the her we heard the piercing scream again I rushed to the room ready to see a threat All I saw was a poor, helpless girl lying on the floor she had a machine strapped to her chest. It was a bomb.

Decisions

Police

Could it be real? Who would do this? To a little girl, an innocent girl and that is what we make the following decisions on. There is no other way to find out if it is real. We take this upon chance, and hope that our lives, and the life of this little girl is not about to end. We undo one strap … nothing another strap … nothing As soon as it was off her it was out of the room the bomb now out of our lives. We’re all alive …we are all alive

Life goes on…

Maddy

A few months ago, the HSC seemed to be, the worst thing that would ever happen to me. Of course, that was way before the incident. The stress I’m going through now is nothing; compared to that. I look up from my exam paper and sigh. This is where I should be. My hand is throbbing from writing too much, But I don’t care. I’m just grateful to be alive!

The Arrest

Psycho

The end is near I know they are coming coming to arrest me for what I have done Half way across the world They tracked my steps All the way here to America The rain pours the sun a distant memory my life is over I have lost everything Everything, except my dignity Sirens sound Tyres screech Police cars roam the streets and flash their shining lights Neighbours speculate the happenings of this fateful day I was just making a point sending a message to her rich snobby father he is at fault he should be punished he forced me to do what I did I had no other choice The door creeks open my hands in the air police weapons aimed precariously at me Officers shouting and ordering commands

My time is up I had a good fight but I must go now and give myself up Hands cuffed feet cuffed restraints secured tightly around my body I am transported to jail never to see the world as a free man every again.
