About Us

Mission&Vision LMFF FAMILY

LMFF

The , the only Film Festival in the capital dedicated to showcasing films from and about MENA, was founded by three friends, Yasmin El Derby, Kieran Brunwin and Mohsin Lahkim, who share a passion for film and the region. They decided to create the Festival because there were few opportunities to see films from the region, when they were growing up in London. ‘’We took a ‘walk first’ strategy and in October 2011, with the help of four launch partners and an army of fantastic volunteers, we organised a mini edition of the festival. It turned out to be a huge success, with every event well attended. This gave the team vital hands on experience, key operations insight and, more importantly, the impetus to launch LMFF 2012.’’

Mission

”What once began as an idea, will continue as a tradition” Actor Nadim Sawalha

Our is to be the go to place for Middle Eastern and North African cinema in London. By promoting MENA film in London we aim to reach audiences who might not otherwise get the opportunity to see this cinema, thus encouraging cross-cultural dialogue and understanding. Mohsin Lakhim - Development

Vision

is to give film-makers from the region and its Diaspora a much needed multiOur function platform to showcase their talents here in the capital. We feel passionately about connecting the Diaspora not only to people in the MENA region, but also to each other – creating a culture of inclusivity and avoiding one of difference. Funds Utilisation - 100% of all sponsorship funds will be allocated to the costs of running the festival. All profits from this event are distributed back into the organisation to fund future festivals.
