FABRIC STRUCTURE - 1 The basic weaves include plain (or tabby), twills, and satins. Here the weaving techniques like saumak, cut-pile , weft terry and pilling are used. My inspiration for

this weaving was the phirki which r sold in indian melas and children used them to play. the starky colours attract them .

ADVANCE WEAVING -

a

Double-woven cloth is produced by multiple plain weaving. It is woven in two layers, which may be completely independent, may be joined at one or both selvages, may be held together along the edges of a pattern, or may be united by a separate binding weft.

PAINTED GLASS WINDOWS was my inspiration for tis weaving. Double-woven cloths have been used for clothing, but, though warm, they tend to be heavy and to drape poorly. They are most often used as bed-covers or wall hangings.

TREE BARKS were my inspiration for my weaving . Here i have tried to explore the texture and pattern found on the tree bark. the mosses and algae gives a beautiful contribution in creating a nice composition, i have tried to apply that on my fabric. These are generally thick fabrics may be used for home furnishing. the techniques like Imitation inlay, Backed fabric , special warp-weft , terry and Leno are used during this course.

FABRIC CONSTRUCTION ---woven

, knit, non woven , sewing and braiding techniques were explored during this course to create a fabric surface. my inspiration for development of fabric was STAR FRUIT. i studied star fruit and i tried pulled out its characterstics both tangible and intangible on my fabric.

SEWING TECHNIQUES :- in this course techniques like making seams, interlocking, piping , patchwork, different kind of tucks likes pin-tucks, mexican tucks,, blind tucks, pleats , smocking , frills and ruffles etc.. were explored and finally we converted them into a product.

various kinds of prints .
