THE RANCH North Mountain Ranch is 3,781.1± deeded acres located in San Miguel County, 31± miles west of Telluride and 12± miles southwest of Norwood, Colorado, and sits near the north boundary of the Mckenna Peak Wilderness Area. Located in GMU 70, North Mountain Ranch may be one of the strongest elk hunting ranches M4 Ranch Group has had the opportunity to market. The unit is comprised of 871,086 acres of which are 30% private and 70% are public (16% USFS, 49% BLM, and 5% State lands). The ranch qualifies and is in the landowner participation program. The ranch’s large tract of deeded acres are fronted by Dry Creek State Wildlife Area, totaling over 2,220± acres. The ranch is NOT under a conservation easement, though it is fronted by lands that are protected from future development being under conservation easements. North Mountain Ranch is home to 9 distinct drainages, numerous ponds, and lakes. There is a spectacular variety of terrain and fauna, from the cool wetland bottoms to the lush aspen forest, and protein-rich oak brush which all make this ranch the perfect home to very large numbers of elk and mule deer. There are substantial elk populations that reside on the ranch throughout the summer and fall months.

The ranch offers year around access with size, terrain, and habitat as well as an exceptional hunting lodge with 4-bedrooms 3-bathrooms, built in 2016 along with a 36’X45’ equipment accessories barn which is equipped with a walk-in cooler. While the ranch has San Miguel Power Company electricity, it is greatly enhanced with a new substantial solar system coupled with a 1,500-gallon spring-fed cistern with direct gravity fed water pressurizing the home to 40 psi with no pumps. Recreational access to Southwest Colorado out of North Mountain Ranch is exceptional. There are miles of 4WD trails in the San Juan National Forest, and outstanding fishing for Rainbow, Cutbows, Browns, and Snake River Cutthroat trout, as well as an exceptional Colorado Crawfish population found in the neighboring 405± acres of Miramonte Reservoir. Just a short drive from the ranch is Telluride, Colorado. Telluride Ski Resort has been a top-ranking ski destination in North America for many years. Along with its outstanding skiing is the quaint town itself with great restaurants and shops. Telluride is a year-round destination with festivals and events throughout the year.

surrounding attributes Telluride Ski Resort Telluride, CO

Alta Ghost Town Telluride, CO

The region receives on average more than 300 inches of snow annually and offers more than 2,000 skiable acres for all ability levels. With 300 days of yearly sunshine and no lift lines, the skiing and snowboarding in Telluride is an epic experience. Telluride Ski Resort opened Revelation Bowl in 2008. This spectacular European-style terrain is situated above tree line and offers advanced and expert skiing in an unbelievably scenic setting. All told, the resort has recently expanded by nearly 400 acres, offering the most stunning skiing and riding on the continent.

Visit one of Colorado’s historic treasures nestled between Telluride and Ophir. This nicely-preserved ghost town sits at an elevation of 11,800 feet and includes several original buildings from the old mining town that was active from 1877 to 1948. The cabin, boarding house, and other structures look stunning against the high-alpine background. Hike up the short trail to view the remnants of the old mining town with many of the buildings still standing, including the impressive boarding house. The Alta townsite came into existence after gold was discovered in the area and only a few hundred people ever lived there. A fire burned the mine’s mill and it closed for good. After viewing the ghost town, continue on Alta Lakes Road another mile to reach the Alta Lakes recreation area - a haven for hiking and camping around three spectacular alpine lakes.

Telluride Ski & Golf Club Telluride, CO Telluride Golf Club is among the highest elevation golf courses in the world. Set atop Turkey Creek Mesa, tucked within the highest concentration of 13,000 and 14,000foot peaks in the US, the 18-hole par 70, 6,546-yard course has stunning views guaranteed to take your breath away. The air at this elevation creates less resistance for your ball during flight, resulting in soul-satisfying longer drives. If Telluride’s altitude isn’t enough to elevate your game, time spent at our practice facilities and with our golf professionals will. Built in 2018 and designed by noted course architect, Ken Kavanaugh, the Club’s golf practice facility includes a 350-yard-long hitting area with three 100-yardwide tee boxes and a 7,900-square-foot chipping area and putting green.

Bridal Veil Falls Telluride, CO The spectacular Bridal Veil Falls are the tallest free-falling falls in Colorado. At 365 feet in height, these falls entice visitors and adventurers from all over the world to hike, bike, four-wheel drive, ice climb, and explore the surrounding wilderness. A privately owned, historic power plant sits atop the falls.

Slick Rock Canyon – Dolores River Trip Slick Rock, CO A few miles after launching from Slick Rock, we enter the short and scenic “Little Glen Canyon”. The sandstone rock here is the same formation that is found in Glen Canyon, now flooded by Lake Powell. Exiting the canyon we enter the salt block formation that created the wide open spaces and breathtaking views of Big Gypsum Valley. Below Gypsum Valley the river plunges into and divides a massive sheer rock wall over 1000 feet tall. The next 30 miles we are in the 29,000 acre Dolores River Canyon Wilderness Study Area. The river twists and turns through sandstone walls that reach skyward directly from the water’s edge. “Entrenched meanders” were created as the plateau tilted on edge, speeding the flow of the once sleepy river. In places these cliffs overhang the entire river. You’ll camp on river beaches or sandy alluvial fans where the river passes a number of beautiful side canyons. We will explore several of these interesting serpentine grottos. Deer and bighorn sheep, are regularly spotted. We’ll also make several stops to admire Indian petroglyphs, carved into the sheer sandstone walls. Our trip ends at an old west survivor, the Bedrock Store, where a scene from “Thelma and Louise” was filmed.
