2010 Annual Report

– Making Mizzou Stronger –

Vision

The Mizzou Alumni Association shall be the pre-eminent resource for the university.

Mission Statement

The Mizzou Alumni Association proudly supports the best interests and traditions of Missouri’s flagship university and its alumni worldwide. Lifelong relationships are the foundation of our support. These relationships are enhanced through advocacy, communication and volunteerism.

Letter from the executive director “Volunteerism is the voice of the people put into action. These actions shape and mold the present into a future of which we can all be proud.” —Helen Dyer As I think back on the past year, the images that come to mind are not what you might expect. Faurot Field afternoons, the Homecoming parade and students rushing through the Columns at Tiger Walk are memorable traditions, but what sticks with me most are the faces of those who work behind the scenes to make it all happen — alumni volunteers! Our volunteers give selflessly of their time and talent in support of our great university. Through these actions, they help shape the course of Mizzou.

Under the leadership of President Jacqueline McEntire Clark, the association continued to take major steps this year toward our vision of becoming the pre-eminent resource for the University of Missouri. With record membership and thousands of dedicated volunteers, we will continue to build the culture of philanthropy the Mizzou family and our great university deserve. For Mizzou,

Todd A. McCubbin, M Ed `95 Executive Director

Sure, private fundraising for Mizzou gets plenty of press, and rightly so. However, we could not run our organization without our more than 40,000 dues paying members. The support that our alumni give to Mizzou through their involvement in the alumni association is often undervalued. No other entity on campus has direct access to such a large and diverse volunteer base, and it’s the association’s mission to marshal alumni enthusiasm in support of MU. Earlier this year, we released a long-range plan that calls for the association to “promote a culture of passionate advocates.” To accomplish this, we will work with our current volunteers and attract more. The association has more than 3,500 volunteers, and we’d like to double that figure in five years. By conservative estimates, alumni volunteers donate tens of thousands of hours every year to keep alumni connected to the university.
