The text I can remember my first day at school very well. All the new children went into the classroom with their mothers and the teacher told the mothers to leave. Most of the children started to cry. I didn't cry because I wanted to be a "big" girl and go to school like my older sister and brother. After the mothers left the teacher said, "Now children, stand up, put your hands together, close your eyes and we'll say a prayer." I stood up. I put my hands together and I said the prayer. But I was four and a half years old. I was excited and I didn’t want to close my eyes. I wanted to look at everything and everyone in the classroom. When the prayer was finished the teacher told me to go to the front of the class. Then she started shouting: “This naughty girl did not close her eyes like everyone else when we said the prayer”. By this time the other children had stopped crying, and that's when I began to cry. The teacher made me stand in the corner of the room until playtime. While I was standing in the corner I was thinking. "If the teacher could see that my eyes were open, her eyes were open, too. So why isn't she standing in the corner?” After that I didn't want to be “big” like my brother and sister. I didn't want to go to school ever again!
