Iconic passive complex for Brussels Environment Brussels Institute for Environmental Management (IBGE-BIM) is the largest passive office in Belgium (16.725 m²), focused on very low energy use and sustainÂability.
Maars Jansen installed 6.250 m² of partition walls in the BIM. From the design phase onwards, the architectural design team of CEPEZED and Maars Jansen recorded the Due to the requirement of increased sound insulation, some walls have a thickness of 155 mm.
choice of materials step by step without losing sight of the acoustic requirements - taking account of natural and recycled materials, the quality of glazing, the use of daylight, rainwater recovery, and so on.
The unique atrium and the classic U-shape of the building provide an abundance of daylight for all. An exceptional feature is the curved ceiling which the glass elements follow seamlessly. The atrium consists of 7 floors; 6 floors with an height of 3.500 mm per floor, the ground floor has an exceptional height of 5.260 mm.
Perforated panels and acoustic controls are incorporated in the walls and doors to absorp sound.
The double glazed Panorama wall reaches a sound insulation value up to 47 dB.
sound solutions
Doors 83 flush glass doors - up to 39 dB 80 flush metal doors - up to 44 dB 14 sliding doors
Breathing Walls Ventilation studs from the Maars ‘Living Options’ program have been used in various offices. This patented solution allows for air circulation between different areas without diminishing the acoustic performance. The studs are seamlessly incorporated into the wall.
The fire extinguishers are integrated into the String² solid walls.
Hygiene The toilet areas and shower cubicles are provided with String² solid walls for optimum hygiene and maintenance, while preserving flexibility.
