KWR Watercycle Research Institute is the only building in The Netherlands nominated for the ARC Architecture Award. This award is given to buildings with a impressive architecture combined with high sustainability.

Transparancy & sustainability “Bridging science to practice” – that is the mission of KWR Watercycle Research Institute. KWR researchers translate scientific knowledge into practical and implementable solutions for end-users in the Dutch and European water sector.
The new office of KWR is a light and transparent pavilion, lifted one meter from the ground. Sustainability was the guiding principle in the design and construction process.
The structure of the pavilion is made of glass, which creates an optimal connection to the green outdoor environment.

Custom made Custom made solutions have been designed for the project KWR; integrated lighting from a third party combined with small perforated panels to absorb sound.
These custom made solutions are also applied in the atrium.
Height variations The height variations throughout the building are captured with the Panorama wall system, creating an exciting relationship with the base building.
combinations Creating privacy By combining Panorama with the String² solid wall system visual privacy is created between the different areas. The solid walls in the meeting rooms have whiteboard finishes creating a writable surface.

Maars doors A variety of Maars doors acoustically tested up to 39 dB are installed at the KWR project.
