The hillocks of Pathanamthitta are known for their plantations, evergreen and moist deciduous forests and rich biodiversity. The increasing number of charnockite quarries has completely altered the undulated terrain of the midlands and left large craters. Post extraction, these quarries are abandoned. The project aims to reclaim three quarries during and post exploitation to reconnect it with the plantation belt that it is located in, adjacent forest, fauna and people. Post reclamation, the site would become an oasis for endemic flora and fauna and hence becoming a crucial patch in the entire plantation belt. The site also has the potential to become a part of a larger system of reclaimed or abandoned quarries that will act as a network of forest habitats in the plantation belt.

Bench Planting
Biodiversity: Exposed rock faces, thick native vegetation, a diverse range of available niches, presence of stagnant and flowing waterbodies and closeness to the forest contribute to the potential unique biodiversity value of all three quarries that are present in the plantation belt.

Gabions at quarry 3
Forest vegetation on steep slopes
Plantation belt and forest: By introducing forest vegetation in patches within the site, the connectivity of the plantation belt is maintained while still borrowing qualities of the adjacent forest. People: If the reclaimed site is to be opened up to the public, the site could have nature trails in various types of types of vegetations to create spatial sequences that lead to viewpoints, dramatic water walk from the ramped benches along the uneven walls, a forest trail that leads to the naturall reclaimed quarry 1 and tree top cottages that create a deeper connection with the landscape.

Sensing Moisture
Type : Research, Landscape foundation studio, Monsoon 2020 Location: Konni Reserve Forest, Kerala Duration: 2020 Instructor: Anjali Jain & Divya Shah This project aims to reveal the intricate fresh water system and shallow swamps in the flat bottomed valleys of Konni reserve forest. The midlands of the southern Western Ghats are home to the moist teak deciduous and the evergreen forests. Investigation of the numerous hillocks and valleys leads to the study of the complex fresh water system that is crucial for the survival of biodiversity. With the help of the Odonata species, a fresh water indicator, the presence of fresh water is traced. This process led to the discovery and further study of the seasonal freshwater swamps that are present in the flat bottomed valleys of the forest.

The Bombay hotel community, located near the Pirana landfill is home to a large group of Islamic families that have spent more than the past decade trying to make this place home. The sense of community in Bombay hotel can be felt almost immediately through the kindness and caring nature of the people. The community lacks very basic amenities that are required to celebrate this togetherness due to its tight-knit, dense-built fabric. The project aims at bringing that soul back into the community through outdoor spaces of celebration.

Vision Re-imagining the series of open spaces along the ever changing Bismillah market to create a system that would become the soul of Bombay hotel Soul of Bombay hotel Streets Bombay hotel that was supposed to be a temporary housing solution for many inhabitants of the community has slowly transformed into a permanent settlement. The essence of the community lies in the way the people interact, care and treat one another. The soul of the communities lay within the narrow residential streets. The sound of children flying kites, laughter of elderly and the chattering of women while doing chores fill the streets throughout the day.
Bismillah Market The Bismillah market is a space where most members of the community gather on the weekends for buying vegetables, groceries and clothes. Due to the presence of a mosque and hospital, there are a large group of people that gather on this market road. The further design and development of interactive open spaces along this market can make it the soul of Bombay Hotel.

• Most people consider the narrow streets as an extension to their houses and that comfort can be seen throughout the communities. • Woven cots are placed outdoor as a place to sit. • Tarpaualin sheets are tied to opposite houses to shade the streets during harsh summers.
• The residents of the street gather on special occasions to celebrate together • Food is prepared in the streets in large pots, for the whole community. • The streets are decorated with streamers and other hangings.

Type : School Landscape Design Location: Dar Es Salaam Duration: 2019-2020 Stage: Concept Role: Conceptual development Aga Khan School in Dar Es salaam is an IB school that is to be designed keeping in mind the ideals of international education. The architecture is such that the students are encouraged to interact with one another and the teachers to grow together. The landscape design for the school is done keeping in mind the necessities of the school and the community as the space is to be used as a gathering space in the evening post school hours. The project has taught me to do thorough research while designing spaces to ensure maximum usage of the space.

WEWORK MUMBAI

Type : Shared office spaces Location: Vijay Diamond, Andheri (East) Mumbai, Maharashtra Duration: 2019-2020 Role: Conceptual development to execution Entrance driveway
Walkway adjacent to amphitheatre
Landscape design for wework is a culimination of formal and informal spaces catering to a young crowd that enjoys shared work spaces. With a limitted area allotted for landscape development, the softscape lines bleed into the hardscape. My contribution towards the project was in the conceptual and schematic level. Being a fast track project, it has taught me to work with tight deadlines and deliver the best quality of work for easy execution. Concrete cobbles at driveway

The basic zoning for the site was done by superimposing the profile of the islands and the reclaimed land over the site plan as softscape and hardscape respectively.

Color coding: Wework is known for their lively atmosphere and vibrant environment. The pop of color introduced in the landscape elements will help define and tie the spaces together.
The islands are placed along the natural thick vegetation available on site and the patterns are continued onto the driveway and hardscape. The masterplan has the wework pop of color introduced as a band running throughout the landscape tying all the elemnts together into one. The initial conceptual sketches were made to indicate the versitility of this element that will bring life into the otherwise monotonous landscape.

Techpoint is an IT company located in Pune maharashtra. The project was introduced to Zoras as a fast track project that needs to be executed immediately as the construction of the building is nearing completion. The landscape area is divided into the frontage, entrance area, rear area and the terrace landscape. Since the area for landscape is less, more attention was given to the small details such as lighting elements, boundary wall finish and paving on the driveway to bring life to the project.

LANDSCAPE CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT:
ZONING
• The landscape masterplan has been divided into rectangular zones based on the usage of the space. • The landscape proposal consists of one entrance at north west side and one exit at the south side, limiting the traffic movement. • This change in the circulation pattern gives way for a large pedestrian friendly zone that can be used for landscape. • The grey squares indicate the vehicular access points to the site and building. • These rectangles provide the base for further planning of spaces.
•Majority of the landscape space is indicated as the formal landscape along the facade of the building (West side). • This area consists of the security cabin and the visitors lounge area that form the base for the formal landscape. • The security cabin is proposed to be a combination of open, semi-open and closed structures. • The recreational landscape at the east side of the site is a woodland area consisting of large trees and shrubs. • The entrance landscape acts as a buffer space before entering the office
