LEE’S SUMMIT (LAKEWOOD)

December

From the General Manager, Mark Reid Pursuant to a very productive Board of Directors meeting held on November 14, 2019, the Association will close out 2019 in very good shape. We look ahead to 2020 with approved Operations and Lakewood Improvements Program budgets. In order to comply with the requirements of our Reserve Study, the Board has determined and approved that additional financing is required. Therefore, we will be obtaining $1,169,248 of long-term financing. This will bring us current in our obligations to replace any assets that are known to be beyond their useable life cycle.

Private Streets, Driveways and Sidewalks • Plowing snow on private property is the property owner’s responsibility. • Shoveling snow to the side of your driveway will lessen the amount of snow left at your driveway entrance and/or sidewalks during plowing.

What can I do if my yard is damaged by a snow plow? Trucks occasionally scrape sod near the curb line because it is difficult to distinguish between a curb and road during heavy snowfalls. Oftentimes the snow plow driver reports the damage; however, members can report damage to the administrative office. Why is my street still covered with snow after an LPOA truck plowed it? Snow packed onto the roadway becomes difficult to remove especially on residential streets. LPOA does not have a bare pavement policy.

FAQs When does snow plowing begin? The LPOA Maintenance crew begins plowing once the snow accumulation reaches 2”. In many cases, the crew is pre-treating ahead of the storm. When will my street be plowed? The goal is to have all streets plowed and treated once precipitation ends within the time frame, which is determined by the severity of the winter weather, and can range from 12-48 hours. If I call the LPOA, will a snow plow come down my street sooner? The LPOA has a scheduled route system. Snow plows are not redirected or pulled off their established route. LPOA asks that everyone be patient during snow events.

• Remove vehicles, trash cans, trailers, etc. from streets to prevent delays and improve the snow removal process. • Do not make snow tunnels on or near the street and driveways. Snow plows and other drivers may not see these and could accidentally injure someone playing inside of them. • When using snow blowers, direct the output into the yard, not the street. • Please do not attempt to approach the snow plow or open the door of the truck when the operator is performing his duty. If you have a question or concern, please call the main office at 816.373.4326 or Community Services at 816.373.1500.
