Something About My Portfolio

-“What is the best design of our surroundings?” This is the original question that I have ask to myself when I first approach to the Landscape Architecture. When I was a freshmen in my university, I used to regard the majority as an astistic subject. As long as I learned, I knew that solving the problems of original site and think more about people behaviour can make the bored site more senseful. I’d like to think new relationship between people and cities or villages, which could make both of them better.

Brief Introduction The project is a modification project for Nanjing Dajiao Airport. Our team focused on how to design a site which can be in phase with the development of driverless technology. In each level of technology, the traffic system of the site can change and satisfy the needs. We also discuss how the relationship between pedestrians and vehicles.

RUNWAY TO THE FUTURE How driverless cars work:

Landscape modification for driverless technology Nanjing, the ancient captial where 6 dynasties built within, has a long history and unique culture. Locating in the center of Nanjing our base used to serve as a military airport. Unfortunately, it had been blocked up since the war between Japan and China.

Nanjing University

As the train station of high-speed rail has been built already, nothing can keep Nanjing away from the pace of turning into a popular city for people to view. In one hand our base locates in the center of those celebrated spots, in the other hand the traffic connection of surrounding economic entities .

How driverless technology can improve our lives:

Nanjing Technology University XINJIEKOU

Car accidents death will reduce from 33 thousand to 11.3 thousand.

Greenhouse gases output by cars will reduce by 300 billion tons.

Driverless technology can provide drivers all over the world 10000 billion hours a day.

Build roads for the future: LEVEL 1 Route of human being is isolated from cars. Green belt serves as boundary. Traffice order is mainly harmonized by facilities.

LEVEL 2 Gap appears on the green belt. Human being walk across roads without the assisst of facilities.

LEVEL 3 Human being and cars can share the same pace. Green belt serves as ecological function. No facilities remain.

LEVEL 4 Wideth of the road reduces. Area of green increases.

Two roads one system There are two kinds of road together form the road system of the design.

How roads interweave Those two kinds of road interweave together and provide various experience of acrossing. They will phase with the development of driverless technology.

With the phasing of the technology, the function of those two kind of road will change. The road system will be able to fit each level of driverless technology.

Road of isolation The first kind of road is for those cars in present stage of technology.

Now In current level of technology, Human beings are isolated for cars by plants.

Future Sorghum When the driverless technology develop to level 4, this kind of road will no longer be used by cars. Instead, specific kinds of plants will grow there. They can be changed into fuel of cars.

Road of interwine The second kind of road is for the future, when those cars have level 4 driverless technology.

Now In current level of technology, This kind of road serve as the footpath of human being.

Future When the driverless Carpet grass Velvet grass technology develop to level 4, cars will share this kind of road with human being. The technology will enable the cars to run in a certain path, which means plants can grow under the cars.

Exhibit center Inside the site, there is an exhibiton center about the history and future of the driverless technology.

CHANGING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PEDESTRAINS AND VEHICLES As the driverless technology changes with time, functions of sections will change. The change also can reflect the relation between pedestrains and vehicles.

The form of spacedivider is abstracted from the cabin door.

Cabin door By setting spacedivider on both sides of roads. The sense of separation between pedestrains and vehicles will be stronger.

Now When the driverless technology is not well enough, pedestrains will have to go through the brige to cross.

Lounge bridge Form of the bridge is abstracted from the lounge bridge of airports.

Future When the driverless technology develop to level 4, cars will no longer use the road under the bridge. Instead, they will share roads with pedestrains. The road under the bridge will be used to plant vegetable like cotton. People will feel like walking above the cloud.

Now When the driverless technology is not well enough, pedestrains will have to go through the brige to cross.

Crossing bridge The outside of the bridge is made of mirror, which can reflect the sky. Aiming at shorten the distance between people and the sky.

Future When the driverless technology develop to level 4, cars will no longer use the road under the bridge. Instead, they will share roads with pedestrains. The road under the bridge can be changed into riverway.

Brief Introduction Climate change is a general topic that respect to everyone on the earth,With more climate disaster like typhoon has damaged so much as for people who live near the ocaen. Tai O is a tpyical fishing village with kinds of complex culture elements, facing lack of native population and natural disaster. So we need a special form to defend the attack and offer the necessary fuction for Tai O’s people.

Tai O is an important part of Hong Kong, which is an ancient fishing village owned over 400 years history.Fishing culture is the most essential elements in this old village. Nowadays, climate change and transformation of popluation structure are vital challenge for Tai O residents. So I try to design an infrastructure with landscape architecture that could help Tai O people.

IN THE CREVICE OF CITIES Urban Planning of Hetao Region between Shenzhen and Hong Kong Team Work in Open Project Co-worker: Hui Wei Team Role:Concept Generating,Master Plan Design,Perspective Expression Adviser : Guo Yipeng Time: 2019.11-2020.1 Location: China , Shenzhen , Hetao Area Square: Approximately 0.61 km² Reading List: Jumping between the systems-A Study of the Challenge the Shenzhen Hong Kong Cross-bounary Students Facing 2012.5.10, Nanjing University , Graduate Thesis

Brief Introduction This project focuses on a special area: place between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. As the conflict in Hong Kong being more and more intense, we want to build a site that can ease this situation. Instead of traditional way of planning, we put more emphasis on how not to make the site seems similar to Shenzhen. We want to blend the form of both sides and make people from no matter Shenzhen and Hong Kong have sense of belonging.

IMBALANCE BETWEEN HONG KONG AND SHENZHEN Imbalance of development:

Different in densities of building: Shenzhen In Shenzhen Futian, there are high density of buildings.

1981 The Futian district were set in Shenzhen.

1997 The Guangshen expressway was open.

Hong Kong In Hong Kong Xinjie, there are mainly agricultural lands.

Different in educational resources In Shenzhen Futian, there are more schools than Hong Kong Xinjie. Consequently, students have to go across border to achieve education.

Because of China's special political policies, the site is in a very special situation. Shenzhen is a young city that hosts most of China's famous Internet companies and high-tech zones. At the same time, more and more people choose to go to shenzhen for development because of the jobs created by these industries. Meanwhile, on the other side of the shenzhen river lies Hong Kong, whose unique historical background and geographical advantages once made it one of the leading financial centers in Asia. But the city now faces a dilemma, with development on both sides of the shenzhen river so uneven that many choose to cross the border frequently. However, there are some difficulties in the planning of Hetao area. The ordinary planning method will lead to the similarity between the whole area and Shenzhen, and the sense of separation from Hong Kong.

Time line of Shenzhen: N 200 m

Time line of Hong Kong: 14

OVERLAP OF TWO CITIES: Difference in Texturesďźš Due to the difference in development purpose, Hong Kong Xinjie area is full of paddy cultivation. Yet, Shenzhen Futian is occupied by buildings. Such distinction invokes dilemma of planning. We solve the problem by overlaping two textures.

Brief Introduction With Chinese rapid urbanization, many provincial capital has explored speedy, they had eaten thousands of original village that make to the satellite town. There is a vital problem is that numbers of traffic lines like highway and railway would go through,Dividing the complete land into fragmented zone which break the ecological effect and lead to the plenty of wasted land usage.

Hefei City adheres to the overall strategy of developing the city of science and technology in central China. In the past decade, the economy has developed rapidly, the city has expanded rapidly, and its transportation network is dense and complex. Towards a "super city" in all directions.

Brief Intruduction of Hefei's Development

However, the central area of the city, with the old city and the University of Science and Technology of China as the core, is becoming increasingly crowded. Through the concentrated construction of urban subway lines and the laying of viaducts, it has caused a lot of waste of land in the city, especially in the border area near the city. Due to the interweaving of railways, urban highways, and viaducts, urban space creates an embarrassing situation in which empty space is idle and good plots perform limited functions. Hefei is a vast city intertwined by two water systems and surrounding surrounding reservoirs. The local block is selected for development in the northeast direction of Hefei. It also contains complex roads and largescale water systems. The city design enhances the ecological functions of the city's periphery, forms a green wedge on the inside, and re-plans the idle land to create a small "satellite city" to ease the pressure of urban congestion.
