Nature Preschool

Covington, Kentucky

Located in the urban city center of Covington, Kentucky, this preschool encompasses the pedagogy of a nature preschool by creating a natural learning environment for children in the area. The courtyard is an extension of the classrooms. They were created with moveable walls for nice weather days, the children will have a seemless transition to the exterior. The landscape is built up in order to create this “hike where they can utilize the roof planes.

St. Bonaventure St. Bonaventure, New York

St. Bonaventure University needed a center where all religious beliefs and affiliations were welcome. This newly designed Merton Center accomplished this. With a student kitchen space and faculty offices rooted on the ground level, the upper level provided multiple welcoming spaces for students to practice however they choose.

This interior perspective focuses on the multi-purpose space of the upper floor in the Merton Center. From yoga classes, to traveling student and professional art exhibits, this diverse space is what St. Bonaventure’s campus needed.

Exterior Rendering

Rudisell House Cincinnati, Ohio

As a part of a Mid-Centry Modernism studio, the Rudisell House is an existing home that houses two grandparents, their daughter, and her two children. The objective of this studio was to provide a space for their daughter and her two children. She loves to read and be outside, so I proposed an addition to the home that created a wonderful balcony space that penetrated into the woods for their daughter to enjoy.

Atheneum

Columbus, Indiana

Columbus, Indiana has many famous buildings. Two of which are designed by Eliel and Eero Saarinen. These works include the First Christian Church and the North Christian Church, respectively. In order to celebrate and encourage other architectural phenomenons, this atheneum is designed with the thought of storing and displaying relevant Columbus art, as well as displaying traveling exhibitions. This atheneum displays these exhibits and has archival spaces in a suspended “Trophy Case that is the central focus piece of the building. Not only is the art on display, but the entity in which the art is held is also on display.

Pool House Cincinnati, Ohio

This pool house veers away from the traditional sense of a pool house because it is comprised of planes with different levels of thickness in order to create a sense or privacy or openness. It is a very open concept with four programmatic corners, a main pool, and a deep warm therapy pool.

Individual Proposal

ITSC Interior Renovation University of Cincinnati

As a Studio, we were asked by another college at then University to renovate their space. Their classrooms were in a dismal trailer that needed a lively design in order to recruit more students to their program.

ITSC Interior Renovation The Joint

In order for the 15ft table to have a sturdy table top we laminated 2, 3/4 sheets of plywood on top of each other. We slightly overlapped them and expressed the joint by emphasizing where the two pieces connect.

ITSC Interior Renovation The Legs

Originally we laser cut the plywood for the legs. Loving the burnt edges from the laser cutter, but needing to cnc route the legs for the final iteration, we decided to stain the edges of the plywood. We implemented a braille system in order to know which legs went where. We also used piano hinges in order to allow flexibility but also strength.
