Master of Architecture THESIS 2018

01 site selection The initial site analysis started with two main categories : • where are the fans coming from? • where are other sports located? By analyzing the location where the most ticket sales come from, you can see that the majority of the sales come close to the city center. When looking at where other sports are located, you can see that the small dots (high schools) are located out farther from the city center, and as you move closer and closer there are more colleges (medium dots), then eventually the professional teams (large dots) are at the city center.

01 site selection west end To best select a site, I analyzed the sites on three basic concepts : • green space • building use • parking This allowed a concrete comparable to determine the most diverse site. I wanted a site that was balanced between green space, diversity of building use, and ample existing parking in order to minimize additional parking for the stadium. The West End site had the most diverse building use of the three and is an urban environment.

01 site selection oakley The Oakley site is right off of interstate 71 and is amongst a big box store development. Thus, Oakley has the most existing parking because it serves massive chain stores. It has the least amount of building diversity, and the green space was unusable.

01 site selection newport The Newport site is on the other side of the Ohio River with great view of downtown Cincinnati including the other three stadiums. Newport was heavier on the residential side, light on the green space, but had existing parking that allowed others to create a journey to the stadium. Ultimately, Newport was selected because of its views to downtown Cincinnati, proximity to fans, integration within the urban fabric, experience for the fans, and the development potential for the city of Newport.
