Societal classes have become the standard way of controlling the entirety of humanity. A caste system has been developed and the gap between the elite and the rest of the community has become wider than ever. The resistance has formed against the popular belief of conforming to population standards. In result, the elite has become the ruling faction over those who have been subjected to the government. The conformists have lost all individual identity and perform monotonous lives as the working order. This dystopian era has left the human population subject to regulation by the few in society who have the power to govern.
The Resistance was formed from the few individuals within the class system that were unwilling to conform to societal rules and expectations. They go against everything society stands for, and in return lives off of the land while escaping those want to integrate the resistance into their society. They are the rebels, the radicals, the revolutionaries. In order to survive, the resistance learns to adapt to their surroundings and live off what they can find. Often thought of as dangerous, they tend to fight off anyone who attempts to control them. They are authentic in their dress, covering themselves for protection against the elements and using materials that are extremely durable and long lasting. Their main objective is to remain in control of themselves and to survive.
colors + Fabric
This trend includes mainly black and white color, along with various shades of gray and brown. These hues derive from the aspect of the rebellion and emphasize the natural hues that allow them to stay camouflauged within their surroundings. The key fabrics will include leather, twills, and destructed cotton and canvas. Fabrics that are highly durable and can survive naturalistic environments are widely used by the resistance.
The conformist consist of the working middle class in society. Silhouettes based off of minimal work wear made of sustainable fabrics. This part of the of the class system bases their wardrobe off of a uniform. Covering the body and looking for basic silhouettes that do not define the body in any way or form, allowing everyone to fit in and look the same. All conformists keep to themselves as individuals and avoid making any stamp in society. They work to live and move through life in routine following the Elite’s order, indifferent to being controled. The main goal of the conformist is to be, but not be seen in society.

The conformist color scheme is based on a grey scale and the attempt to completely blend in with society. Bland and monochromatic colors allow the conformists to lose their sense of individualism and become one large group that can be easily manipulated. The fabrics chosen are all based off the working class which include stronger, sturdier fabrics such as denim, canvas, corduroy, and cotton twills. All simple yet durable.
The Elite has been composed by those whose extraordinary skills, abilities, and wisdom render them especially fit to govern. They possess authority and influence that is greater than that of others; and whose views on a matter are definitive. They are the commanders, the authority, the rulers. Living in luxury, they are passionate about futuristic architecture, social structure, and advancing technology. They distinguish themselves by wearing only the finest leathers, metallics, and high tech fabrics. Often thought of as a dictatorship, the elite are those who take charge and control of society. The Elite assumes special privileges and responsibilities in the hope that this arrangement will benefit humanity or themselves.

The color scheme of the elite derives from all neutral tones with metallic embellishments. The elitist and powerful societal class assert their dominance through the use of luxury leathers, tweed, and high tech fabrics. The most expensive and exclusive colors and fabrics are reserved for the ruling leaders, the most innovative and advanced styles allow the elite to put themselves further apart from the lower classes.

The silhouettes of each group are strongly influenced by their purpose in society. The resistance mainly features deconstructed styles and silhouettes, very relaxed and unstructured shapes that allow it to be worn for long periods of time. The conformist silhouettes are extremely standardized with no recognizing factor about them. This is their uniform, they are all meant to be one and the same. The elite class has the most structured and innovative silhouettes. Often in advanced and expensive fabrics, these styles allow them to put forth a ruling and superior attitude over the lesser classes. THE ELITE

In recent years the number of dystopian societies depicted in popular culture has been increasing due to their wide follower base. Books that have turned into movies create an fever that allow many to be fascinated with these futuristic worlds that are so different from our own. The attitudes of these characters are reflected through their clothing, an aspect that is also reflected through their social status. There tends to be a separation of power between the different classes within this dysfunctional and aristocratic society.
