Tallahassee leaders and KCCI Community Catalysts unveiled the latest installment of Art of the Box at Maclay. The project is part of the ongoing community-wide initiative to transform utilitarian boxes into public art.

Maclay sophomore Olivia Schroeder’s “Acorns to Oaks” piece is displayed on the traffic control box on the intersection of Maclay Road and Meridian Road, following a schoolwide call for art submissions. Maclay parents Chris and Susanne Dudley sponsored the box.

Members of KCCI including director and Maclay parent Betsy Couch, Mayor John Dailey and several commissioners and community leaders joined the event in Langford Hall.

“The Art of Gratitude” Week

The COTA (Celebration of the Arts) themed “The Art of Gratitude” was a fun and active week for all our students from PreK through Upper School. The appreciation week kicked off on Monday with sidewalk chalk art and messages of appreciation left on the doors of teachers’ rooms. Each day, the Library Lawn was active with pop-up concerts and events like Company’s performance of “Clue,” the Americana Band, and strings and orchestra performances from all ages. Later in the week, Lower School teachers met parents in the drop-off line holding posters with “thank you” messages written on them. Guidance hosted an afternoon of do-it-yourself planting for teachers, and faculty were treated to a canvas painting event in the Cartee Gym.
