What is a rainforest? Rainforests are thick forests with trees that stay green all year round. All rainforests have a lot of rain and are very damp. Tropical rainforests grow in areas of the world called the tropics where it is also very warm. The climate is perfect for plants and rainforest trees to grow very tall and close together. Tropical rainforests are full of wildlife. Half of all the plants and animals in the world live there.
Types of rainforest This book tells you about tropical lowland rainforests. Another type of tropical rainforest is a cloud forest. This grows high on mountain slopes where it is cooler and damper than in lowland forests. The trees are shorter and often in thick mist.
