Opening the tomb In ancient Egypt there was a secret valley among rocks and cliffs on the edge of the desert. It was a burial place for the pharaohs, the rulers of ancient Egypt. This was the Valley of the Kings. In 1922, an archaeologist was looking for tombs in the valley. His name was Howard Carter. One day, he found a hidden door, buried by stones and earth.
The ancient Egyptians buried Tutankhamun’s treasure thousands of years ago.
